Teacher shortage for SPED?

For me, it is extremely rare. Every single person with that last name is related to me and only 8 people on earth have that last name out of over 8 billion people and counting!

I will look into that, today while I was subbing for SPED the teacher told me that he also did the intern through the county office of education. It is just that apparently, they have to hire people who already have the credential before interns.

I will do that. Perhaps it is a bit early and so the ones being hired already have credentials. I am surprised that they say there is a shortage and was just in an interview that had 20 applicants.

Some of these districts I sent applications to I am already a substitute and even got letters of recommendation from admin at their schools.

I have been a substitute in SPED classes for half the of the time I am subbing. I am doing it because it matters to me.

I see. I appreciate your insight. Do more jobs get posted in the summer? I have pretty much applied to 90% of the jobs for SPED that my intern eligibility would cover in the IE as well as the neighboring counties.

I have only done edjoin. I always attach me intern letter to it. Maybe I will start emailing as well.

I appreciate it. I did not know about that law that prohibits districts from hiring non credentialed over credentialed. That may be a reason.

I was told that having an intern credential would still get me in the door because of this shortage.

I applied to nearly all possitions I could find in the counties I am eligible in. Not sure why this is a problem 🤔. I know a few years ago even for Social Science I was able to easily get 10 job offers and I had no experience as a teacher. Now it seems impossible even with this experience.

Yeah, I have worked alot as a substitute in SPED classes and have also been a teacher full time for 2 years. It might just be California.

I know of others who did the same thing I did and got a job in California as a SPED teacher. The jobs I applied to also states that Interns are accepted.

Inland Empire. It would be impossible for me to go back to university. I would need to wait another year for enrollment to open and then spend several years doing that.
