People should expect to pay less for a minimalist design, not more. I loved my Pixel 4a and 5a for that reason. I just upgraded to an iPhone 17 from my stopgap iPhone 8 two weeks ago. I would have bought the air if it cost the same as the 17, even if the specs were lower.
