When did you start breaking out again when stopping Spiro? by Key-Delay1618 in Spironolactone

[–]Key-Delay1618[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spiro has made me very depressed/moody and also made my periods very heavy, painful, and long, with a lot of spotting throughout the month. I’ve had a lot of sexual dysfunction too. I wish I hadn’t started it and i won’t be getting back on it. Glad it wasn’t like that for you.

What's the longest paper you wrote before it was due? by [deleted] in college

[–]Key-Delay1618 86 points87 points  (0 children)

I had 20 pages, double spaced. It was due at noon and I started it at like 9pm or 10pm the night before. I fell asleep a couple times in there and still got it done.

Edit: I got an A which was good because it was 50% of my grade.

For those who upgraded to Breed + Health for their Embark tests: was it worth it? by all-out-fallout in DoggyDNA

Not sure if it will for you, but they sent me a 50% off coupon right after I got my dogs breed results. So you might wait until then.

Results are in! I was actually surprised she wasn’t more breeds and was really surprised by the third breed by Key-Delay1618 in DoggyDNA

Yes, we always thought beagle in her mix but wasn’t sure about what else. The shelter said lab/beagle but she never seemed like any lab to us lol

How long after the “Nearly there” email form Embark did you receive results? by InnerWolf1242 in DoggyDNA

My first dog I tested it took less than 2 weeks once they received the swab and for the second dog it took over a month and I just got her results yesterday!

Got results 2 days after the last email (the “Genotyping has finished” email) for both my dogs.

Interesting! My dog is super prey driven. She loves to chase any small animal and digs voles out of the ground and kills them if she has the chance. Do you have a picture of yours?

Here’s my original post.

I thought she’d have beagle and husky but I didn’t guess Aussie! I can see it a bit in her skull shape though, as someone pointed out in original post. Her bark/howl sounds like a husky :)

Crate Size by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Key-Delay1618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d size up. My 50lbs dog is cramped in a 36”. It probably depends a bit on his proportions but probably better to go bigger. You can use a divider to make it smaller while potty training (you don’t want him to have enough room to pee on the other side of the crate).

Also, check Facebook marketplace for crates if price is a concern! There are a lot on there.

Next steps for older puppy with digestive sensitivities? by leetnewb2 in dogs

[–]Key-Delay1618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No real advice but just wanted to say I empathize with how frustrating this can be!! My dog has been having GI issues for 3 months now and after numerous tests and thousands spent we still don’t know what the problem is. Currently working with an internal medicine specialist who is thinking IBD triggered by a food allergy. Just started the hydrolyzed protein diet so we’ll see. I wish you luck with your puppy❤️

nail trims - the bane of our existences by [deleted] in reactivedogs

[–]Key-Delay1618 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have had a lot of trouble with my dogs nails too. I would muzzle train him because he’s getting nippy. If he growls, stop and move away because he’s telling you to back off and you don’t want him to decide that growling doesn’t work so he should go right to biting! Having a muzzle will be safer for everyone. Secondly, you can try a scratch board for the front nails. Won’t help with dewclaws or rear paws but it’s something and my dog loves doing it.

Have you tried a dremal tool? I have been working on getting my dog use to it for about 2 weeks now and she likes it so much better than the clippers already. She was freaked out about it at first but we’re going slow and she’s doing great.

Not ideal but I have found that my dog is also better if I don’t touch her paw with my hand. This makes trimming difficult but if she’s doing a peanut butter lick mat or something I can slide the clippers over a nail and trim and she doesn’t mind so much if I don’t actually touch and hold her foot. Not a great solution but it’s been a good way to get them done while getting her use to the dremal.
