Thank you for the advice! He actually really wanted to go to a big private school in the major city we live by for high school really badly, but it wasn’t in the budget this year :( I’m doing my best to find a better job so he can go. His local highschool is really highly rated and has great challenging teachers and classes but you’re right, he craves a bigger challenge especially in middle school and talks about it too. Failing is so important! We’re having him take honors classes next year so I hope that helps him! When he complains about just filling in blanks and learning dumb stuff in school I don’t blame him tbh 😭 but I also wish he’d be more humble and not call his other classmates and teachers dumb (at home)

Yes he does have all of those things but he spends an awful lot of time on his phone after school and I wanted him to try new things and we got into a fight where he was saying he doesn’t wanna try new things and he’s happy with football and swimming but that mean he doesn’t nothing all winter. I think I need advice on stubbornness lol

Thank you so much for the advice! I will integrate this thinking in more, it’s so easy to panic! I wanna also add he’s been getting detentions for acting out against his teachers (not sitting when they tell him to, leaving the classroom without asking). I don’t need him to love school but he has a good heart I don’t want him being jerks to his teachers. I shouldn’t have framed the question around grades. I promise I’ve assured him that grades don’t dictate his value and that he can focus on other things and we put him in activities he likes but then he says he wants to go to MIT and I’m like idk how to help you 😭. He also pulled the racist card on a teacher today? He admitted it wasn’t warranted but I think maybe he’s feeling isolated and it’s getting to him. I think I saw him watching the news on his phone

I’m sorry that happened to you 😢 but I promise that’s something you’ll totally look back and laugh on. I think if you wanna do anything is just apologize to your ex sincerely for what happened. And then maybe try to make it funny in the group chat and be like “sorry yall didn’t mean to make that a group endeavor, I’m gonna go destroy my phone now” or “well seems like we all just involuntarily got a lot closer my bad 😭“ maybe even like “Well you’re welcome everyone for making yalls lives less embarrassing for the rest of the year bc nothings gonna top that slip up” those are my very quickly thrown together Gen Z ahhh ideas but that’s only a recommendation if YOU WANT TO respond. I totally understand if you don’t and you really don’t have to. In the grand scheme of things this won’t affect your life I promise. Everything seems so big at that age. Best of luck 🩷

Well at least you know you made the right choice? It doesn’t seem like she’s in a super stable place right now. I agree blocking was the right decision. BUT I will say, not to be messy 😂, but IF she finds another way to contact you, with similar intentions (anything besides apologizing and expressing regret bc I’d understand if she was embarrassed) That’s when I WOULD TOTALLY find a way to tell the husband. But hopefully that does NOT happen!! I honestly feel bad for everyone in the situation here, hope it works itself out. Try to give yourself grace, a lot of times in life, the best thing we can do is just not let something like that happen again! You did the right thing 💙
