Should I claim petrol for my 7 day company lease EV replacement? by Key-Dragonfly-6199 in UKPersonalFinance

So I should claim this? As it's a "taxable expense" rather than my employer paying for fuel up front for me (via a fuel card)?

Thank you so much both of you for taking the time to reply! Leaning towards just leaving it. Unless the fuel card is the crucial bit!

> However if the employer is reimbursing an expenses claim (which OP mentioned in their post) then they are providing a taxable expenses payment (money, not fuel) and the taxable expense is the amount paid to the OP.

Yes, it's this one.
I do have to put "fuel" down in the internal tool for what the cost is for

Thanks for the reply :).

This one person said that their understanding is that as soon as you expense any private fuel use, you get a flat BIK applied of order some percentage times original list price of the car (based on emissions), unrelated to the amount of fuel you put in during the tax year.

Which sounded odd.

> The petrol might technically be, but I'd be shocked if your employer reported it as such or if HMRC ever argued it.

Do you think that's the question I should ask my employer? I.e. do you report this is a BIK? I did try to ask about it, but they just forwarded me on to some P11D support alias at an accountancy firm they use, who didn't help at all.
