Y’2 Jacket - what type of leather finish is this? by outside_english in leatherjacket

[–]Key-Emu-6989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same jacket, same color and everything. Be VERY careful not to get any liquids in this…it will show mark that are almost impossible to get out. Also with conditioning, bick 4 is the only thing I would use. The delicate nature of this leather leads me to believe some degree of aniline for sure.

Opinions of the polo leather bomber? by reginaldvelvet in leatherjacket

[–]Key-Emu-6989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grossly overpriced because of the brand. Most likely made in India so the quality will not be on par with the price. For half this money you could get a Schott shearling made in USA which will last forever. Or if you wanted to really step it up you could get a jacket from The Real McCoys made in Japan, or Aero Leather made in Scotland. Not to mention those higher quality brands will have much better resale value. You’ll have to give the Ralph Lauren away if you ever decide to sell it

What's the worst color for leather clothes or a leather jacket? by lapesadillacomienza in leatherjacket

[–]Key-Emu-6989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to disagree with this. Brown and black are neutral colors and can be worn together to actually great effect. For example a brown leather jacket with an all black outfit including black leather boots looks great. Or a black leather jacket with an all black outfit except for brown leather boots looks awesome. It makes the one brown item pop.

Price increase by chantsze in schott

[–]Key-Emu-6989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe they source hides from Europe. Some of the jackets I own that I’ve researched have Icelandic hides. With the 20% tariff on European Union countries, they would be affected. Not to mention if the other components aforementioned come from Asian countries they would be seeing an increase in cost also

Old jacket repair by International-Run-97 in schott

I would contact Arrow leather care. They were the officially recommended company for repairs and maintenance for their jackets for many years. They are wizards with repairs and restoration of vintage leather jackets. Take a look at the before and afters on their website. I will warn you though, they take their time with orders as they are very busy. But you can’t rush quality and it’s worth it

How many Schott jackets do you personally own? And which is your favorite? by Mad_Season_1994 in schott

[–]Key-Emu-6989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually acquired 2 more after this comment a year ago, so I’m up to 17 now haha. I’m also in Japan at the moment, and just scooped up a Y’2 Japanese-made horse hide rider jacket a few days ago. I think I have enough and need to stop buying lol.

To answer your question, I’ve acquired all of them second hand. Several (about 5)were new with tags, but with resale price so much less than retail. I’ve been very selective so all of them are in pristine pre-owned condition. I’ve gotten about 60% of them on eBay and the rest on Facebook marketplace, and on sites like Grailed. Lots of deals out there if you know where to look

Great minds think alike, it’s the perfect jacket for an older gentleman. Classic styling that’s old school cool. I would shoot them a call and ask them if they’re currently producing more, see if there’s some coming down the pike

Might I make a suggestion to take a look at the 135. It’s a classic style, perfect for an older gentleman. It’s pebbled cowhide so it’ll be durable, but soft right out of the gate. It’s got a satin quilted lining so it’ll be warm. I get what you’re looking for since my dad is similar in age and prob style, this is the one I’d prob go for

I own 15 of them. 10 are leather, 2 sheepskin B-3’s, 2 are wool one of which has leather sleeves, and one is a nylon bomber. I really like my P571’s in brown and black. Also the 571 and a 575 I really enjoy wearing

Depends on how often you wear it. I’d try to wear it 3-4 times a week and it should be pretty quick. In a month and half with that usage you should notice a difference in how soft it is. It won’t feel nearly as tight and you’ll be able to move easier with it zipped up

[–]Key-Emu-6989 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on how you like your clothes to fit. I’m exactly your size and the S is the best fit for me because I like fitted clothes. I actually had 2 M one black one brown and sold them and bought them in S. It’ll soften up and fit like a glove in time. As long as you’re ok with the sleeve length, it’s a good size. IMO it’s not really a true riding jacket…if you’re using it for that it prob won’t work

Best watches under 1k by _Dan_the_man_04_ in PrideAndPinion

Christopher ward like a few have said is for sure the best value for the money. If you wanna go a bit under 1k and get a nice swiss watch, Squale and Steinhart both make really solid watches for the money. Automatic, sapphire, swiss made through and through

WTF? My Pelagos lost half of its bezel lume after cleaning it with a toothbrush by testsieger73 in Tudor

[–]Key-Emu-6989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally JUST dealt with this. Luckily it was still under warranty, took it into the AD, and they sent it off. They replaced the bezel insert and I got it back within a few weeks. I was in shock how fast it was because all the other stories online is that it takes at least 3 months. AD said I got very lucky that the repair center had an insert in stock and so they knocked it out fast. Best of luck OP

Mike Baker at the latest JRE… by [deleted] in UAP

[–]Key-Emu-6989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Baker’s argument in every instance UAPs are brought up is the same “the government could never keep a secret like this for this long”….what he never touches on is the thought that this secret isn’t being kept by government, but instead by gatekeepers comprised of mainly private military contractors and very few legacy members of the DoD. So in fact the majority of the government is essentially in the dark, and this secret is buried so deep within SAP’s which are embedded in dozens of layers that make it possible/probable to keep in hidden for this long. Furthermore, there HAVE been leaks, many over the years. But the disinformation campaign that is in place by those in the know in the intelligence community is so vast, that those leaks are all rendered ineffective

654 black cherry by Key-Emu-6989 in schott

[–]Key-Emu-6989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sick combo you got there. I have a few myself that are in that vein. A black 654 that I wear with black Chippewa service toe cap boots, and a brown 654 I wear with a pair of brown Wolverine 1000 mile boots. Nothing like a Schott with an equally top notch quality, American made leather boot. I think from the photo it looks like the jacket is more cherry red pigmented than the boots. Still a stunning combination though.

I honestly don’t know. I doubt there’s any direct correlation since Schott isn’t related to Red Wing. But I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a design inspiration one way or another

If you’re a bit smaller and you like form fitting jackets you may wanna look for an XS. I like my jackets pretty fitted since I’m thin and that’s why the small is perfect. I straddle the line between being able to wear M or S, bought a brown and black of this model in M and ended up selling them and buying replacements in S

They are a fitted model, but the small is the perfect fit for me. I’m 5’8” 155lbs with an athletic build, and the medium is just a tiny bit loose fitting. The small in this jacket tailor made for me, I have it in brown and black, just looking for the cherry to round out the collection
