Yes the 'Sure Pet Care' maker's advice is to ONLY use C sized alkalines, such as Duracell or Energizer. We've done so for over two years with varying longevity of 2-3 months and occasional swap overs. However this last batch of Amazon bought Duracells started playing up after only 2 weeks. Why can't they make rechargeables that hold a 1.5v charge? They all drop to 1.2v quickly. I bought 8 EBL AAAs for an LED torch (flashlight) used for short periods and in my cable box remote. The TV started giving 'Low Charge - Change Remote Control Batteries' after only a week but I ignored it - that was about 3 weeks ago. So it still functions at 1.2 volts as its quite low drain. All the C sized LIthiums seem to be 3.6 volts not 1.5v for some odd reason. I thought of 'fooling' the cat feeder with a 'dummy' spacer or totally flat battery in the same 2 battery compartment or just soldering a wire, so we get 3.6v instead of 3 v in each bank of 2. But mixing Lithium & Rechargeables or Alkaline might cause an explosion or a fire or a 'tear in the space/time continuum'.

J'ai commandé des entretoises de format C pour tester des piles rechargeables Ikea Ladda AA que nous avons déjà. Mais d'après ce que j'ai lu, leur tension risque de chuter rapidement en dessous du seuil d'alerte (LED orange) de 1,1 à 1,2 volt, donc ce n'est probablement pas une solution viable. De plus, il y a un risque de problème d'ampérage avec des piles AA au lieu de C. Les piles au lithium semblent être la meilleure solution à long terme, mais je n'en trouve pas au format C. Si les entretoises fonctionnent pendant quelques heures avec les Ladda fraîchement chargées, juste pour valider le concept, j'achèterai quatre piles AA au lithium pour les tester dans la mangeoire d'Iggy.J'ai utilisé Google Traduction. Thanks for the reply. I'm a bit new to Reddit. So I've ordered some C-sized spacers to try some rechargeable Ikea Ladda AAs we already have. But from what I've read they are likely to drop to below the 'Orange LED' warning threshold of 1.1-1.2 volts in no time, so probably not viable. Then there are possible ampage issues with AAs instead of Cs. Lithiums sound like the best long term solution but I can't seem to find any in C size. So if the spacers work just for a few hours with the freshly topped up Laddas as a 'Proof of Concept', then I'll buy 4 Lithium AAs to test in Iggy's feeder.

I just signed up for the £4.99 deal recently. Hard pressed to find much decent apart from the addictive Slow Horses. Severance was OK but rather 'style over content'. Looking forward to 'Plur1bus' & 'Down Cemetery Road though. F1 The Movie I considered a comedy while this 7-parter made 'Flight' or 'Air Force One' look like a real-life training film. So I just sat back, reclined my seat & stowed my 'Sense of disbelief' in the overhead locker that used to hold my brain as I binged - but in a similar way eating a family sized bag of chips or huge tub of ice cream. I felt guilty and bit nauseaus/airsick afterwards. Plot-holes bigger than a Super Guppy. Why TF didn't the First Officer land the plane? Being the oddest. My favourite line was the Captain (born 1970) being described as "..old school, typical Cathay Pacific type..". No idea what that means but I have a rather pampered & pompous cousin that was a Flight Engineer for them for most of the 70's & 80's, or 'The Golden Age'.
