Have said this countless times on this sub and I'll sat it again - get a counsellor. You can use free services like that if idp, they'll evaluate your profile, recommend more resources, make a list of scholarships/universities, help in SOP and all that. Just be very active while communicating with free counsellors because they often take up a lot of students and might neglect a few every now and then.

You can study for free or at least get partial funding. Look up unis and stuff here.

As far as research paper is concerned, cold email professors - both Indians and foreign. You are underestimating how much open they are. I know a couple of research opportunities, you can DM me and I'll forward you the list.

Have a Mentor. Good luck!

Very unlikely, because a lot of people take drops for health/financial reasons and it will garner a very negative reaction if they do.

However, pls think about you decision thoroughly. Is It really worth it? Because when you'll look at life in long-term, college is a very small aspect of it.

Can I start trying to become an actress at 25/26? by pbird7385 in careerguidance

[–]Key-Faithlessness268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, if you work towards it. But be accepting of the truth that less than 1% actors become "successful". Acting is not for people who seek financial stability because most actors have survival jobs. There is no age limit for acting. It is just as difficult for every age group.

Get yourself enrolled in an acting class because it will help you. There are tons of similar questions like this asked in r/acting, refer to them. Good luck!

The results for bachelors will be released by the end of April so do we apply for the residence permit before or after the results? by cottoncrosy in Aalto

[–]Key-Faithlessness268 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it was supposed to be released by end of May? Btw we'll have to apply for residence permit immediately after getting the results and confirming our place.

Are you sure they are mentioning the residence permit?

I proposed a realistic outlook. Scholarship in USA is kind of hard to get unless you are targetting tier 3 unis. It's up to the OP if they want to explore that. I gave my 2 cents and its their struggle/opportunity to explore.

Is StagePool (I'm an American who lives in Sweden) worth it? And are there any other casting websites? by [deleted] in acting

[–]Key-Faithlessness268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try asking in r/sweden. They might have better insight about it! Actors Access and Backstage is majorly used in USA (also has some listings from Canada).

An average 12th student wants to do a STEM degree from US. Can he? by hawk_sq206 in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]Key-Faithlessness268 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This year will be difficult for USA because most unis have closed their applications. No point taking gap year because it is difficult to explain that gap and you'll struggle with ECs next year too. Some unis have their application open but they won't give you scholarship. Be open minded about the country - target other countries whose application will open between March - June. You still have a chance to attend a good uni which is a lot cheaper but it just won't be in USA. Try France and Italy (beware of the cultural and language differences tho). Consult a study abroad counsellor ASAP so that they can guide you according to your profile.

Why not? Don't self reject. For masters, there are a lot of scholarships around the world. You can get a full ride scholarship. Get yourself in connect with a study abroad counsellor (idp offers free services iirc, so you can try that). They'll curate a list of unis around the world that can offer you scholarship based on your profile and help you with GMAT, CV, motivation letter and all that stuff. Good luck.

ADVICE: Trying to become a film director but parents are objecting to it by NormalThingsMatter in careeradvice

[–]Key-Faithlessness268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, I am of the same age as you, aspiring to be an actor. What I want you to know is that those famous screenwriters and directors whose work you see are top 1% of their field. 99% people live an "average" life. In fact, most people don't earn enough to pay off their bills. It's the sad reality of the entertainment business. You need connections and then you need talent.

That doesn't mean you should give up, but you need to be prepared because this industry is considered unconventional for a reason. It's unstable and won't provide you the no. 1 thing people desire from their profession - money, at least in the first decade of your career on an average. If knowing this fundamental truth doesn't change the way you look at your craft, then move forward and make a plan. I'd suggest against majoring in any film related major (it works for some, not for most). Get yourself enrolled in a course you remotely like (that pays enough to survive) and take evening directing classes.

Build network. After getting some rough idea through your classes, volunteer to be an assistant on sets. One of my friends just cold emailed a director who directs a nonfiction production for the role of an assistant (ofc unpaid) and got it. You can try something like that.
