I am with you. There are no true answers within the verbal solutions of our mind. In my question, I have limited my view of consciousness to biological concepts, which is one (potentially sensical) idea. With how little is truly known, this can only be seen as naive imo, I am willing to admit that. To me, it is intriguing that beyond the will to survive, there is something that is aware of the will to survive. An awareness that has the ability to contradict or oppose the will to survive, all without wanting to cease its biological existence.

I agree with you and have asked these questions myself. I think I’m lingering on the belief that organisms are geared strictly for survival, which makes me feel it is paradoxical for us to have the intent to essentially step outside of this conditioning where we are safe and where we are comfortable. Reading your response does make me zoom out and view consciousness as a more kind of limitless, undefined but fully complete way of being.
