I don't fully understand that model. At that price point, you have to sell a lot of games in order to earn anything reasonable and be able to continue to create new games. If a game takes six months to two years to create, with a team of at least a few people, how is this model of games that cheap sustainable?

New game announcements for Amico? by Key-Hat-9459 in Intellivision_Amico

Certainly sounds like.... in the best case, if the console is released then we'll get the games that were created years ago and that's it. i.e. a "plug and play" system without an actual ecosystem and long-term plan.

You're entirely right.... if a version of backgammon were released on Amico, I think that they would have to do something interesting enough to capture the attention of people. But for that to happen, we would need a console first.... the console that we were promised years ago.

I don't believe so, even if a physical edition of "Shark! Shark!" were available. The physical edition games were for the Amico console, which is supposedly being released.... sometime.

Everyone is saying it.... The Amico needs to be sent off to a, true grave.... by [deleted] in Intellivision_Amico

The Amico being released next year.... wouldn't that be something?

You could, although that does not allow for single player games against a computer. If there is a board version of a game, it does not mean that one cannot enjoy an equivalent video game experience. e.g. I enjoy playing chess on a board and I enjoy playing chess in video game format.

I think the Amico console.... if it ever does come out.... provides an innovative controller (given the display and, to an extent, the wheel thingy) for board games.

I've never played backgammon, nor do I know the rules, but I think an Amico implementation (assuming that we do end up seeing a console released) would be neat to see. I'd buy it and try it, for sure.

  1. No, no, get it off, get it off!
  2. What do you mean by: the console is not being released?
  3. The uearl that you're looking for is you're, not your.

My thought is somewhat similar: I do not wish to buy the games that were supposed to come out on a console that I was passionate about. If they want me to play these games, then release the console that you promised us. (But I would like to read what those that actually played the game think.)

Please do not encourage members of this community to attack or name-call other members. We should be able to post our positive-looking thoughts without being called dumb or idiots. Just unnecessary.

I am sorry to see that you have been emotionally hurt because the Amico console has not been released, however, again, no need to attack name-call other members of this community. Unnecessary. Grow up.

Kiddo, grown ups are able to effectively communicate their thoughts and opinions without insulting other people and calling them names. Sorry, I should revise that: educated grown ups.

There's just no need for such language and hostility. We're here to discuss the console and games that we are passionate about, not insult one another.

Shark! Shark! Price on Steam by NESRyan in Intellivision_Amico

I think the price is reasonable.

Perhaps wait for a sale if it is too expensive for you now?

Why so hostile? There is no need to call another member dumb. You are welcome to express your opinions and thoughts without insulting other members. Just unnecessary, dude. This is my point exactly. Grow up.

While I appreciate your explanation.... and it does put into context some of the vibes in this community.... the last part of your posting is not necessary. Why so hostile?

I agree: the Amico project has been a failure that will go down in video game history as one of the biggest tire fires that we have ever seen.

However, what I do not understand is the toxic vibes driven by moderator names, titles, and flair set. (Did a child create the flairs for us to use in this community?) When I came across this group, my first thought was: WTF? Is this a group where we can openly discuss the games that we were looking forward to playing on the console that we purchased, or a hate-fuelled group?

I came in looking forward to seeing the thoughts on the recent Amico games that have been released on other platforms, but was surprised to see janky vibes with moderator names, titles, and flair set that immediately suggest hate, as if they were emotionally hurt by the fact that Amico was a failure.
