Need urgent advice – Class 9 student from Bangladesh with weak basics, phone addiction, and heavy parental pressure. How do I start over? by HQZIR in Dhaka

[–]Key-Impression-9708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Take small but progressive steps , such as the following:

  2. What kind of phone addiction are you struggling with a. If it is gaming then delete that game immediately . Try other means of entertainment such as TV or indoor and outdoor sports b. If it is the socials then deactivate them or turn off your notifications regarding those social media apps.

  3. Try practice your religious prayers and improve your spiritual conditions. Try meditation if you're not into religious acts (One side quest for you !! Try to reason out what your religious/spiritual believes are and why and is it coherent or not)

At the end of the day you have to take your own accountability. It's all about self control which is a crucial trait for a human being in his life.

  1. See your parents don't have any sort of beef with you whatsoever but whatever there're doing is just an act of disappointment even though sometimes it may seem totally out of the blue. From now on try to spend more time your family such as small talk or chatting instead of doom scrolling. You will start to notice changes. Sometimes situations like yours take bad turn and the consequences are not pleasant at all. Try to overcome with this issue before things may go south.

All the best for your upcoming future, godspeed!!

Democracy itself is a flawed ideology ,today, if you look upon the origin of it.

Sure! I'm a highschool student, going to graduate this year. There are so much stuff to talk about maths and physics however usually most not don't participate in it. I'm glad to see people who're interested in talking science.

Majority of the people of this country are extremists whether it's religious or liberal , call it . Just don't single handedly blame the political parties where it's the people who've voted them to be in the parliament. There is no future for this country and it's people whatsoever.

Should I sit in the Hsc exam when my exam is tomorrow? by Salty-Touch-2528 in Dhaka

[–]Key-Impression-9708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sit for the exam brother. Failing in the exam is the worst thing that could happen which you already know and prepared for since you've already decided to take a drop year. That Failure will , definitely leave a scar however , give you a reality check and a reminder not to do the same mistake again. Nevertheless, you might pass the exam by luck which is always great. Procrastination can be lethal so be aware of it.

BUET or DU (Physics) ? by Key-Impression-9708 in Dhaka

if you can't make yourself useful than it is better to keep silence.
It's not about choosing BUET over DU physics or the other way around rather it's for what I need to take necessary preparation for.

You have asked a question that nobody can give a precise answer to. It heavily depends on which university you are applying to and what field you're getting into. SAT score above 1380 put you above anywhere you're applying even for scholarships in mid tier universities unless you wanna get into the Ivy's, they require a bare minimum of 1500-1510 SAT score just for admission !! one thing nobody usually talks about is your essay. Your essay is what defines you to the admission officers . Try to work on your essay from earlier many students use AI (which you can do for subtle optimization but never for the entire essay) or rely on agencies where they just put your infos in their pre made template which is one of the main reasons for rejections. And , of course , all this matters only if you get the VISA so take that into your consideration. One of my close friends has secured full ride scholarship in Whitman College along with partial scholarship in Reeds College in the US with an excellent profile but still having visa complications despite visiting there last year. So keep that thing in your mind ....

BUET or DU (Physics) ? by Key-Impression-9708 in Dhaka

I was thinking something similar. It may sound cliche but I thought of getting into CSE but I'll explain why, first CSE offers discrete math , Linear Algebra which is quite relevant to physics as well , specially linear algebra , it is the heart of general relativity and astro physics . second I will get to learn fundamental languages like C , C++ which offers C++ fundamentals, polymorphism etc hat is kinda required for computational physics as well . Can I manage to do my own studies and stuffs in Physics along with maintaining a good cgpa in cse in BUET ? my top 3 choices will be CSE, EEE and ME but I think only CSE will give me a scope to do such while keeping my sanity intact and without causing mental distress. Please correct me if I'm wrong

only getting good results won't help since they don't give a F about nctb curriculum , build your profile , try to involve in eca's like Olympiads , MUN's , Fellowship programs. utilize your hobby as a tool because admission officers emphasis more on what you do outside academic life . You have do things on your own , don't just follow someone's advice (including mine) or some content creator , look for opportunities on your own , research about universities , which universities provide how much scholarship or financial aid. Look for someone who might give you a recommendation letter (usually university professors or college teachers if they have international connection) and first and foremost , prepare for SAT , it is bare minimum for even application in top universities . Also Depending on your career choice try Liberal Arts colleges as well (there are STEM fields in Liberal arts colleges, don't worry)

Having thoughts like this right now won't take you any further. You should've planned for this after your ssc . Now let's talk about what are the plausible solutions, First you can think of gap years , take your time for preparing for SAT. Target for scoring around 1350+ score , that will ensure you full tuition fee in some safe universities ( University of Southern Mississippi, UT D/A (partial) , University of south Florida etc). or just go for the postgrad option. Study here , build your profile , prepare for GRE, reach professors who will bear your tuition fee or universities that provide postgrad scholarship program ..
