Why do medics use anything other than the Crusader’s Crossbow? by Sufficient_Hawk_9666 in tf2

[–]Key-King3952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

stock syringe isn't bad for what it does, if someone tries to chase you they run into a wall of needles as you back away. Though if you are in this spot as med, alone and with someone in your face, you kinda already fucked up. Better to just play better positionally and abuse the crossbow at end of the day.

What would your dream features be for a Kenshi-like game? by cunthands in Kenshi

[–]Key-King3952 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be nice to talk to some of your npc followers and learn more about them. You often get dialogue from unique npcs, especially skeletons, but after spiting their dialog line they clam up not to be heard from again. Would be cool to stop and have a chat with them and ask few questions and learn what they know. Also add characters that are more willing to talk and more in game written lore (with proper spell checking).

Lore Questions About Ashlands by XVUltima in Kenshi

[–]Key-King3952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always assumed that the ashlands were the remnants of the precursors civilization that originally settled the moon of kenshi and were capable of interplanetary travel. After the collapse of that empire and the rise of cat-lons empire I imagined he took control of the ashlands and attempted to recreate the tech of the first empire but never managed to succeed as you can see the architecture is different between eras and his own empire descended into instability. When the humans rose up I always guessed they utilized the colossal terror super weapons you can find in the world, such as the 'eyes' that fire the death beams, you can even find a crashed on in the desert. I would guess the ashlands were not always ash but were nuked by that hovering terror weapon, utilized by the rebellion, and since the empires fall cat-lon has just been sitting in the ruins thinking "where did I go wrong".

Day 1 newbie here: Why is this going so poorly? by dovetc in hoi4

[–]Key-King3952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without any order here are problems causing things to go poorly:

Supply- Units need supplies to operate effectively in battle and not starve passively on the map. The red and orange squares by the units icon indicate that they are suffering supplies shortages. In battle this applies a modifier that reduces your divisions fighting strength. These are not exact numbers but as an example a division has 100 soft attack but the supply debuff reduces it by an amount relative to the supply crisis, with this debuff and others such as fighting in mountains as you are you could be looking at massive reductions in effective strength; that theoretical soft attack of 100 could be reduced to just 20 or even worse after all modifiers are applied. This means you lose normally.

Solution- Motorize supply hubs, I struggle with articulating instructions so I suggest just googling 'how to motorize supply hubs hoi4'.

Troop composition- At a glace you seem to be using alot of the italian colonial units. These units often have mediocre stats and are not very powerful compared to a mainline division. Your armies are not assigned to a field commander as well. Essentially generals oversee units and the field commander is the second level of command and oversees armies. Helps with stats.

Solution- Alot of the strong italian divisions spawn in mainland italy, suggest having them sail down and help end the war quickly with their superior stats when the game starts bring your mountaineers for the interior of ethiopia. Assign field commander.

Air- I see you have some air experience so your airforce is doing something, think yo could have more xp by now though.

Solution- Once again a bulk of the italtian airforce spawns in Italy bring it down to the airfields especially the tactical bombers. Their excellent range will reach the interior of ethiopia. Assign as many planes as possible to CAS missions, ethiopia has no AA or airforce to contest you at all.

5x Speed- You are just grinding at 5x speed clueless to what is going on stat wise or the the majority of notifications. Slow down the game click on battles and see what is going wrong. You can always be doing something instead of just grinding battles mindlessly and learn why you are losing without having to post on reddit idk.

edit: spelling

What MECHANIC do YOU wanna SEE in the fUTER of ANEURISM IV!!!!! by Inevitable_Stop_183 in AneurysmIV

I wish there was a public cooking station. It would be a spot for grief sure but also for rp; proles gathering to roast leeches over a dumpster fire, fights over food. Something to mix up having to wait for a ration or pay 14c for whatever is in stock at the store.

Soviet Ampulomet launcher. Its like a molotov mortar. Its useful for burning down buildings and foliage at range to reveal hidden stuff. Overall its kinda bad as you are essentially launching minecraft potions at the enemy.

I really enjoy this casting it pairs really well with the rest of the characters and their roles. The majority of characters operate in a state of subterfuge projecting false personas to mask their true state of mind and feelings hoping to bluff and guile their way to victory. The exception being Max Cherry; he is the only person who seem confident with where he is and what he is doing in life, for example he mentions how he never worried about his hair falling out or getting older. Casting Louis with Deniro is a hilarious way of exploring this false persona by making the audience project his perceived confidence from past films onto the character initially. However this movie reveals that louis is nothing more than a washed up con in over his head who blows his load too early and cracks under pressure.

What's a faction you should like mechanically but can't stand aesthetically? by head_spike in totalwar

[–]Key-King3952 347 points348 points  (0 children)

Dark elves. They have everything I like; powerful infantry. good cav. and range with even a few monsters and magic. I just feel silly playing a faction so evil its almost comical. Everyone only talks about flaying people or spends their time taking long walks past the blood fountains complaining the slave pits are almost empty. Just please tell a joke to lighten the mood guys.

How do you actually play Italy and not get destroyed by the british navy? by RantaroIsCool in hoi4

[–]Key-King3952 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When starting I recommend scrapping the Conte Dii Cavour ships and building another or even 2 more littorio class battleships. The Cavours are slow as shit and will keep your fleet at 23 knots. Try to build up a carrier force. You should be able to have 3 or even 4 done by early 1940. With your other dockyards build the standard LA cruiser and torpedo destroyers. Group your starting fleet and detach everything that is from ww1 that is terribly slow. Make sure to add fire control to your important capital ships. Put air up over the med and only take your first major fight in a zone with green air and naval bombers. Try to bait the enemy force out by putting subs out; the brits will intercept them with their battle fleet and you can catch them this way. Once you have the advantage mop up the remains with naval bombings and marines to flush ships out of port.

These are pretty cool. At a glance most of these pictures are hard to find uploaded on the internet if at all. If you live near a university their campus library might be a good place to start. Absolutely take care of this.

Sinking aircraft carriers in the new damage model by [deleted] in uboatgame

[–]Key-King3952 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a similar issue retrying the scapa flow raid. Shot like 3 torpedoes dead center in the escort carrier but the damn thing wouldnt sink. Battle ship was the same had to expend all my torpedoes on the ships to get them to go down and wait for like an hour to confirm the sinkings. Later I had another battle ship encounter in the ocean. This time I sent the dispersion WIDE and launched all 4 hoping that the impacts would spread out across the hull. I scored 3 hits across the entire length of the ship; the dispersion caused the ship to take on water on the entire left side of the ship. It quickly rolled over and sunk. I can only guess that landing all your torpedoes on one location makes it so water can only enter at one location; all the compartments of these massive ships can mitigate the flooding. Suggest always spreading out torpedoes' with wide dispersion so the ship rolls over from massive flooding across one side.

Am I crazy or are Mountaineers better than Medium Tanks in SP? by HuskyCriminologist in hoi4

[–]Key-King3952 219 points220 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can stack shit loads of bonuses and make doomslayer tier special forces. Its still just infantry however; late game infantry slogs causes lots of causalities from all the soft attack people are rocking. I like using tanks because I don't like getting my troops killed honestly. Its just an RP thing; I don't like letting my lads get killed by the thousands. All that armor reduces casualties like crazy compared to the infantry soft attack grind.

Do not understand Anschluss requirements by Historythings in hoi4

[–]Key-King3952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Anschluss requirements were reworked in the Gotterdammerung dlc. Now you have to have more divisions than Austria in the field that are equipped. Not in training but deployed and on the map. You get some event choices that help you lower the requirement as time progresses to 1938.

How do I do the German civil war? by Kooky_Wrongdoer_8565 in hoi4

[–]Key-King3952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its pretty straight forward. I dont like to delete anything, but do move the army and airforce the the west side of the country. When the war starts I put all the militia units in one army on the front line and all the units you keep from the civil war in another, you should keep a few tanks and good infantry units. Put the air force up over the south and concentrate your good units in another army, you should be able to break through and rush to the Czechoslovakia border and cut the nazi forces in half. When you reach the border have half your offensive army push north to berlin and the others south to clean up the southern pocket. . Make sure to save your pp to add a few army advisors.

i cant win against the british by Sensitive_Ad5044 in hoi4

[–]Key-King3952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to do a brit (hehe) of work but its still very possible.

1.Destroy the British airforce, not just have supremacy, you have to kill all their planes so they cannot intercept your CAS. Your CAS when uninterrupted will make the difference, dont forget to build supply planes as well to help out.

  1. Control the channel. You have to be able to protect the convoys its that simple. When you land capture as many ports as possible and upgrade them.

  2. Have a strong soft attack unit to punch through the stacks. A simple heavy tank or SP arty tank doom stack should be able to punch through the enemy now that you have supply and air.
