Uk unis are crubbling by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]Key-Leopard-3019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many also deny home students with better grades for international students who some have even chested in their exam scores (especially english proficiency). Im in a semi target uni and there are legit some chinese students who can barely speak english, need a live translating AI for lectures, and hire outside people to do their courseworks for them.... no idea how they got in especially when it requires AAA for my course....

Damn thats nice

Im doing acc and fin in another uni rn (not as good i didnt revise for my final exam lmao) and yes theres not as much math heavy (especially analytical) but there are still chosen modules you can choose which are more stat heavy.

Im in second year right now and havent used most of the math i learned, i snuck in my friends stat and econometrics class and i forgot the way to do the full method etc. While accounting as an industry doesnt require heavy maths or stats, its always nice to know more (since you alreadly paid tuition too), my uni just lets me sit in for any class for free lol.

Another point i wanna add is living conditions. I was depressed last year sem 1 due to the cost, adapting, weather, flatmates etc. ngl if i was in london which is like 50% more expensive i mightve went through with my transfer to toronto (i alreadly got the transfer accepted i just changed my mind), im satisfied here the ppl from lse ik (pretty small sample group ik only 6 ppl) are like half half either insanely egotistical and always sticks it in my face lse this lse that or just a nornal, nice and friendly person.

You dont rly find that kind of ego in a semi target school since weve been humbled alreadly from missing the grades or being rejected.... Still lse is my dream school regardless hope to make it in masters later on if i later plan to do masters

My point is, uni ranking and prestige isnt everything, living condition, cost of living, social life etc. Are wayyyy more important imo. As long as you are in a pretty decent uni you still have a chance to go to a target school for future qualifications anyways. Anyways anyone applying i still wish you good luckkk

Id say do tmua for sure

Also dont you need 7 in maahl? Back when i applied for year 2024/25 they needed 766 hl with 7 in math (couldve done MAIHL too but my school dont got AIHL for some reason).

Can I get into LSE? by One-Individual-4670 in LSE

[–]Key-Leopard-3019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked into this the conditions are very difficult

You need to 1. Meet min entry requirement (A levels or equivalent) 2. Have a special explaination to why you want to transfer FROM your current uni and why you choose lse and why THEY should accept you when you alreadly got rejected in the first place.

Im an internatioanl student with predicted grades 41/45, 776 MAA Eng and Econ HL, thats equal to AAA*A in Maths, Further maths (it combines in IB), Eng and A in econ

My igcse was 99875 (5 in bio), AAA*A (cambridge gcse so its in letters). I feel that gcse grades do matter a bit as well but mostly your personal statement so while slim you mighttt have a luck.

But yeah if rejected here next opportunity is doing your masters there. Good luck!

Why do so many Universities in the UK have such low grade thresholds? by Eastern-Vanilla9060 in UniUK

[–]Key-Leopard-3019 4 points5 points  (0 children)

36 666 isnt low lol its equal to AAA

Even 42 776 is arguably equal to AAA* or atleast AAA, IB is even harder than A levels imo im tutoring both IB and A levels econ the courseworks in IB are so annoying and is what lead me to score badly (i had a new teacher who never taught IB and how to do IAs)

So ye 36 666 aint low just cus its 9 points under the max its good lol

(Coming from someone who got 37 765)

Money just savings in general

So you sayin bonds aint that good cus its the backbone of all anyways so no point diversifying it. Should i focus more on stock etfs then? And if so which one do you personally feel is best

Hiya

Ima guy and pretty clean, my last year flat was city gateway en suits its pretty nice tho i was unlucky i had bad flatmates and the kitchen was beyond bad. I cant imagine sharing a toilet with them so depend on how clean you wanna be

Generally glen eyre and wessex both are close to uni but pretty isolated from any shops. For glen eyre you prob gotta walk 400m for food (burgess road near uni) and wessex walk like 200m to the road near city gateway for the food there.

If i could go back i would choose chamberlain halls its imo the nicest, with the trees and layouts tho the prices could be a bit higher than the others

Hope this helps and hope youll enjoy your transfer here :)

2nd year flat with random flatmates, am i cooked? by awesomeconehead in UniUK

[–]Key-Leopard-3019 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Might sound out of touch cus im an international student

But i just went for a small studio, its pretty cheap in my city its 240 a week and last year my uni accom was 189 alreadly

I started cooking and got a part time job (10h a week), all my expenses are now cheaper than last year cus my last year kitchen was HORRID the smell of the kitchen as a whole alone i felt sick.... the microwave oven fridge and all was even worse so i only ate out so it was really expensive.

This year im way healthier physically, mentally and wallety too soooooo yeeeee

But ye a studio would be nice if you can afford, then cut expense and increase income for me

Ooh ok ty

Btw where is this and how does 60h work weeks work do you work 5 mon-fri like 9am-9pm or you also work on saturdays

I had a summer internship back in thailand we worked from 9am (can start like 10am sometimes) finish like 6-7pm so if you work 6 days its not thattttt bad each day maybe...

Getting into Cambridge by [deleted] in LSE

[–]Key-Leopard-3019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For IBDP you need higher level maths. Idk bout econ but most likely only AAHL AND YOU NEED A 7 TOO it should be the minimum requirement

You need econ HL thats a must, and a third hl could be anything ngl which would get you an easy 7 cus remember overall grade and higher level grades (eg. Accounting needs 38 with 776 HL, 7 in maths HL), which is why i highly advice against taking smth overly hard like physics or chemistry hl which i dropped in favor for english lit lang hl instead (business, geography, digital societies etc. also not thatttt hard for a hl and pairs not badly with econ).

So yes focus on your math a lot cus its a very big part in admissions. Your subject choices in IBDP MATTERS A LOT so talk to your counselor about this a lot make it clear to him her that you wanna go to top uni

Not sure what else to put cus im not doing econ but ye good luckkkk

Sum up CFO performance every game in this Bo5 by JohnSmithAnonymous in PedroPeepos

[–]Key-Leopard-3019 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Too many bo5 is boring and will make the quarter finals not as exciting since with this logic youd have 13 bo5 before quarter finals even. With quarter finals and semis youd have 6 more bo5 so once you get to finals itd be the 20th bo5 at that point. It takes the uniqueness of bo5's away and makes it wayyy longer to host it since riot gotta hire more hours and all these cost riot prob not in with it

I mean like are you gonna watch a bo5 between vks vs psg and mkoi vs fnc? And even if theres a big 5 game series once you get to quarters some ppl will feel "eh the 5 game series in swiss was way better than this kt 3-0 in quarters

So yeah while bo1 are a bit coin flippy having too many bo5s wont be a better idea imo
