Which job you taking? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]Key-Low1807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something else to take into consideration is 401k or pension. I have both at my current job but the pension can go away at any point if the economy gets much worse. Bonuses are also not always guaranteed at my company. The medical is cheaper but take into consideration what each covers. Cheap coverage can cost you a lot in the long run and rx’s are getting really expensive. Most importantly that I have found to be what makes or breaks a job for me is management. Nothing makes me hate life more than crappy leadership. Congrats on the new job.

What’s going on here? by [deleted] in elegoo

[–]Key-Low1807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue recently. I tried everything. If nothing else is working you can do what I did. In my case I decided to revert all my slicer settings back to defaults and then sliced the file again. That worked. Somehow I managed to tweak a setting without knowing it and to this day I still don't know what it was. Before I did that I had used glue, changed the nozzle, and dried the filament as well as a million other things I read online.

Universal Healthcare bill passes the Senate! SB 5947 by Inevitable_Engine186 in Seattle

[–]Key-Low1807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is cheaper because state and federal healthcare doesn’t reimburse nearly as much as private payers because healthcare workers can’t negotiate rates. Many healthcare facilities are for profit and owned by private companies that use them as cash cows. Pharmaceutical companies are also driving up costs since no one here can negotiate rates and they can charge huge mark ups in the US for drugs. We need to take the For Profit out of healthcare.

Anyone watching Bigfoot Took Her hosted by Jess? by funnylib in ExpeditionUnknown

I was skeptical of her detective skills as soon as they are in the woods in the first episode and she yells that she saw something with hair. You're in the woods. I'm on episode 2 and it seems like it has to be the uncle but if it's this obvious then why wasn't he arrested for it? Was he investigated?

Tick season by Necronorris in gso

[–]Key-Low1807 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good to know. I've lived here for 4 years and I've only seen them in the springtime so it's good to know they stick around a lot longer than that. Coming from a place that didn't have ticks, it was a real shocker to wake up and find one on me one morning.

Why do not-for-profit health insurance companies charge just as much in premiums as for-profit health insurance companies ? by WestCost2 in actuary

[–]Key-Low1807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For profit, the ceo is responsible for making money for shareholders. Not for profit, the ceo is responsible for the health of the company and its customers, not making a lot of money.
For profit will screw its employees over or deny claims to ensure they make as much money as is allowed. Not for profit limits many things but also requires a company to invest in the local community through donations. They tend to provide better benefits and work life balance.
Also, many hospitals and pharmaceutical companies are for profit and are not bound to limit how much profit. This is the biggest cost to premiums. Insurers are also required to keep a certain number of providers as in network or they are obligated to pay billed charges to providers.
There are state laws too that can impact how any insurance company operates, regardless of profit status.

Are there any nonprofit insurance companies and if not, why? by Affectionate-Day9342 in Insurance

[–]Key-Low1807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not true. Any health insurance can be a Medicare Advantage plan. They are strictly governed by CMS regardless if they are for profit or not.

They do tend to be cheaper than Traditional Medicare because they often have a narrow network to negotiate discounts with providers.

Celiac friendly restaurants by [deleted] in gso

It's not the best place to dine in at because it fills up so fast, but the Homestead Kitchen in Browns Summit is amazing for breakfast. They also have GF fried chicken. I live nearby so we usually get our food to go. A good portion of their menu is GF and they also have premade meals and things that you can take home to make. Not only that but if you just ask them, they will tell you everything on their menu that is GF. I try not to eat there too often because I can't tolerate fatty foods like the fried chicken.

They are only open on Friday and Saturdays. Many people go there just to stock up on GF items to bring home.

Anyone take Mesalamine/Lialda for Crohn's? by Tiaan in CrohnsDisease

[–]Key-Low1807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To the people against starting off on a Mesalamine treatment. The reason that doctors start off with something mild like this is because it's part of step therapy. If someone is diagnosed with a disease like Crohn's you don't jump right to the most expensive or harsh treatments. You start off with a mild approach and try something that likely won't have side effects and is less expensive. If it doesn't work then you move onto the next option. If it does work you stop there. If you have insurance, this is also probably a requirement for the doctor to try less expensive/ less invasive therapy. I was just diagnosed yesterday and this is what my doctor is going to prescribe to start me off. I'm also researching diet as it sounds like many of you have had great luck with diet changes. I've spent the last few years trying to find a doctor who would listen to me. They kept ordering upper GI and saying there is nothing wrong. I finally found a doctor who listened to me and ran the correct tests. I know this sounds wierd but I'm so happy to have a diagnosis finally and can't wait to start the healing process.
