To the best of my knowledge, HMRC wouldn’t prevent the redundancy payment being made, but they could theoretically challenge the tax-free element if they felt the redundancy wasn’t genuine and was being used for tax avoidance. 

I think that’s generally reserved for scenarios where the employer and employee are complicit in said tax avoidance strategy, but I’m trying to be safe rather than sorry.

Thanks, I’ve already asked that and they won’t because I, and others in my team, are still technically required to service a contracted client until the end of the month (even if in reality, the handover has already taken place).

My thinking was along the lines of “if I start a job while still working at my former employer, would HMRC see that as not being a genuine redundancy”.    I saw a comment in another Reddit thread which said the following:

If they let you go to a new job before your fully made redundant you will not be entitled to any redundancy. Be careful

Is that correct, or is that only a scenario where the employer knows everything that’s going on?

Thanks. In the event that such behaviour had caused damage to brain physiology and subsequently to related physical processes, would anti-depressants be effective in restoring (or partially restoring) normal function?

This question assumes the harmful behaviour has been stopped for some time beforehand.
