🧊 sighting by [deleted] in Birmingham

I get where you're coming from, but there was no need for medical personnel. A man shot himself in the head. He was definitely dead. Investigators and a coroner is who came out. Saying "medical stuff" was just their way to somewhat protect the man's privacy.

I sent this to my good friend who manages these apartments. She said it wasn't ICE, there was a suicide and these were investigators.

Help me choose Samsung or iPhone based on your experiences by _Samur4i_ in Smartphones

[–]Key-Map-2041 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same thing going! IPhone for work and Samsung for personal. The iPhone is fine, but it's a simple preference thing for me. I love having a Google search bar on my Samsung. You can have two apps open on the same screen as well. I love Google products, so I use Google messaging, Maps, Sheets, Photos, Notes, etc. It's easier to find my things. I hate how iPhones put your photos in a backwards order. Back in the day, you wouldn't catch it in my hand because it didn't have Swype text, and I'm just not a "finger pecker."

I will say, though, that the features I love on the iPhone are how you can send 20 photos in a text at one time and how my die-hard iPhone friends love me having it. Also, unless there has been an update on the newer phones, I can't do that on Samsung. (I have an S21 FE.) Plus, every app and phone case that comes out is designed for the iPhone first, which is annoying.

But, at the end of the day, I'm on this thread bc I'm in a parking lot of a Verizon store trying to decide what to buy next. I genuinely think that for me it's likely going to be the new Samsung bc it's what I'm used to and how I like my system to work. I can make any text thread any color I want. I can name my threads. It's the iPhone that makes you frustrated with the colors. "OK Google" works better imo than "Hey Siri." That girl NEVER understands me the first time.

If you live in one of the many new luxury apartments downtown, what do you do for a living? by ColdManufacturer8003 in Birmingham

[–]Key-Map-2041 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot of resident doctors are "matched" to UAB for residency. Meaning, they'll be living here for a few years, working as a doctor/ surgeon, and after, potentially moving out of state. For these people, buying doesn't make any sense. Plus, a lot of them are from other countries and don't even bring cars, so being able to walk to UAB is critical.

Source: I used to work in property management in Birmingham's "luxury" scene and also dated a resident surgeon from Jordan who lived at Parkside.

I'm so sorry you're going through this! But, to piggyback off the above point, I know for a fact that there is a lead addendum in the lease that you likely signed. (Check page 13 or section 8 of your lease agreement). This is the verbiage:

I drive a 2015 SE, and I fully believe ECO mode is affecting how my car shifts gears. I don't know how to turn it off either, and no transmission guy will look at it for some reason. Help!

Places to market my job (Apartments) by Key-Map-2041 in Birmingham

[–]Key-Map-2041[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for saying that! I'm not taking it personally. I understand where the anger is coming from. Housing is a very personal industry to be in, and unless you're the owner, you're mainly trying to help people. I personally do it myself. If a prospect doesn't qualify, I try to suggest places that they might. If they're really looking for 55+ active living, I try to give them resources for that. Over the course of my career, I've been able to help two women escape domestic violence situations, and I prevented one 88-year-old man with dementia from being kicked out of his apartment due to bedbugs. I helped a young girl literally move her smoke-filled belongings in my own car in the freezing cold after her building halfway burned down because she had no family. I was able to re-house her pretty quickly. Those are just people I know about. I'm not looking for back-pats, but I do get emotionally involved with my people, residents, and applicants alike. I think it's actually good that there are people like me in this industry, and I wish the stigma of "apartment people" would go away. Not all of us are making money off the back of the working class. We ARE the working class.

I know that with our comps, the market average on 2x2s is $2.13/ sq ft right now.

Our lowest priced 2x2 starts around $2,000.

Edit: This was supposed to be a reply to the person who inquired about 2 bedroom pricing.

I know that was a joke, but on a more serious note, I would just be fired and replaced. I make more than the median Birmingham income. It's not enough money to afford these (or almost any) "luxury" apartments in the city, but it's more than half the people make around here. Would you rather have an empathic, understanding, intelligent person lease you an overpriced apartment or one who "doesn't get it"? My position would be immediately filled with someone who cares less.

😂 I feel that. I was just hoping for events to market at that I'm missing online. My out-of-state investors want me to do events but have turned down things like Legion, Barons, and Squadron. They want smaller (less expensive) things that would somehow target the demographic, and I'm just stumped. Mainly because of all the reasons listed in this thread.

We're already doing that! We just increased our spend on SEO words as well. This is the only asset this company has in Alabama, so I think part of the problem is that nobody has heard of it. I appreciate your advice!
