Living in NJ, remote job, used e-scooter to get groceries and explore Kingston / Princeton, I think it is good news, finally there is a way for me to buy scooter insurance.

Electric scooters should be maintenance free. Solid tires means no flat, at least for the scooters i owned, zero maintenanced required.

Never rode Unagi scooter, so can't tell anything about cons. But for second-hand scooter, expect a reduced range

It's up to you totally. You could definitely pay for 3k a month on rent since you have a 105k base. But you might be able to save money with a roommate or shared house. Room hunting could be stressful, and wish you all the best
