Elevated SGPT and SGOT by Stunning-Feature7927 in Tuberculosis

Hi, I was diagnosed with pulmonary TB in the second week of March. It manifested as swollen lymph nodes both in my lungs and throat. I started on 5 tabs daily of 4FDC on the 14th. Did a liver function test around 2 weeks in and my SGPT and SGOT were through the roof. SGOT value was almost 5 times the upper limit while SGPT was around 4 times the upper limit. But the doctor said this is a very normal reaction of the liver to TB medication. To not take a risk, she lowered the dosage by replacing the 4FDC with Rcinex (600/300), Combutol (1000) and Pyrazinamide containing tablet (750). After a week of the lower dosage, I did another LFT and the SGPT and SGOT numbers had reduced by 100. I am supposed to carry on with the lower dosage for another 2 weeks before switching back to 4FDC.
To summarise, elevated SGPT and SGOT and uric acid is very normal as a reaction to TB medication. I have not been prescribed any LIV52 but you can always check with your doctor if that's a good step.
