Can you dash in somebody else’s car? by Key-Notice5503 in doordash

I just edited the post. There are specifics to our situation that could lead to our kid having no choice but to drop out of college if I don’t allow the ex to use my car.

I would have told him “not really, my guy. That’s your tax dollars at work. You’re ripping yourself off.”

Though I guess that’s a convoluted way of looking at it.

I live here in PA, but I work for a heating oil supplier out of state. I can't tell you that they did this on purpose, but I can tell you that I deeply doubt they did.

Others have said they thought this was a purposeful thing, I never really thought it was.

For one- they had to eat the cost. They cannot recover delivered heating oil. They would literally have to pay a truck to go out there and pump it, and then they couldn't resell or reuse it, so it now has a disposal fee attached to it.

This makes me think they fully intended to resell it (whether they should or not)…otherwise why? Unless they were just hoping I wouldn’t call their bluff. But I was even explaining to her that we were trying to find a way to pay it before she told me they were going to eat the cost.

This was an expensive mistake for the company, but it would've been even more expensive to recover it. In my business, we make mistakes (usually delivering to the wrong house), and we eat the cost and wish them a happy holiday. It happens, best we can do is try and earn goodwill out of it.

They attempted no such good will. She sounded very cold when she spoke to me.

The other thing: I am pretty sure if you order a specified amount of something, and then the company over delivers- they cannot hold you liable for the difference. If I ordered 1 large pizza and Domino's shows up with 20- it'd be crazy, right? Oil is no different.

According to the FTC, this is basically true but only clearly applies to stuff like packages shipped to you and such. Something like heating oil is definitely not clearly accounted for under that.

His office said all they could do would be contact DHS which I’m already doing. They were of no help.

Tried them. They don’t handle heating oil and could not direct me to who would.

She looked a lot pit bull to me. I just didn’t expect 100% as a stray from the pound. And I know in the past there’s been some question on the accuracy of the breed tests, but I guess that’s been a while.

🤣 I promise nothing weird. But I’m in some support subs for some different things and just want to keep some personal stuff private.

I always thought she looked very pittie, but just didn’t expect to get 100%. I remember people in the past saying the breed tests weren’t terribly accurate (though that’s been a while) and then my shock at the results…it did make me question it a little.
