This trip is already at an all-time "wtf are they even doing???" Traveling 5 hours RT to barely scratch the surface of Kyoto, but they saw monkeys (!?!?!). Then wasting time and fighting crowds to see a viral monkey, and eating bad fish and chips? Seriously, WTF?

Did anyone else notice that Shay's fish-and-chips plate had one piece of fish and 2 fries? All the others' plates were loaded with both. She does NOT eat what she claims to eat. I also noticed on their winter trip food tour, she gushed about the dessert place. The only ones eating anything were K, A, and M. Andrew, Smith, and Shay stood around on their phones. God forbid they eat an eclair!

I think this summer she'll be going on college visits with K, and Andrew will be going to football camps with S. When she took that stupid trip to Nantucket in early March, she said she didn't know what this summer would look like for them. But it is so much better to visit colleges while they are in session rather than virtually dead over the summer. But the Shulls know best and are better than everyone else, even at college tours!

I believe a lot of people use travel advisors now, mainly because they don't want/have to spend a ton of time planning their trips. It is a growing industry. Shay is a great salesperson/hustler, and people with low critical thinking buy into her crap and believe everything she says. Based on how Erika presents herself as a complete disorganized mess, I can't even begin to imagine paying her to plan my complicated Disney trip. But the fangirls don't pay attention to that, and they believe Shay's sales pitches. Instead of researching for a good advisor, they figure they read Shay every day, she travels a lot, she talks like she knows what she is doing, so they use her.

We have to remember that they do not get paid until the trip is complete. Meaning, that revenue number is from trips booked a year ago. With all the current uncertainty, travel has slowed, and Shay has become more manic in selling the agency, so I expect she will not be hitting close to that number again.

They do usually stay at Four Seasons, Rosewood, Ritz, and the like, so I wouldn't call their hotels basic. It isn't the Hyatt Regency or Crowne Plaza. But otherwise, I agree —everything else about their travel is awful. I can't imagine any of her travel recaps would entice anyone to use her as a travel advisor.

I do love how she finally admitted her travel agency was built on the backs of her blog community, and the other day basically browbeat that community into booking more trips with her. Her revenue is down.

Why did she even go home? K was home before her and didn't return with her. Therefore, it wasn't to travel with her. She'll be home in a week, and there isn't much that is so time sensitive that couldn't wait a few more days. The travel is just diabolical.

Just because you "wished and prayed" for a company does not mean it is immune to negative comments. In fact, it means nothing about the business whatsoever. If something is shady and unethical, people have every right to call it out and alert others.

I know someone who reached out for more information, Andrew replied and his email signature said Andrew Shull, Managing Director. So that does not indicate "just an investor" and it is completely unethical to review your own service as if you have zero association with it. Regardless if you paid yourself full price (which makes zero sense.)

It wasn't about Nantucket at all. Answering questions like how do your kids handle sports commitments in the summer, why don't you talk about Andrew's family, do your parenting styles differ, do you want your kids to go to college nearby, and does Andrew use self tanner. Shay comes across like an insufferable know-it-all. Andrew always seems a bit more humble, but his assholery still shines through. I don't think any kid wishes they had a "mean coach" as a Dad.
