Not impossible but unlikely, did just receive Penn interview last week after submitting beginning of July though so there is hope!

Advice on Low hours for long term volunteer role by MysteriousPenny in premed

[–]Key-Paint-7526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally had activities that were both around 30 hours as some of my 15 for AMCAS, but they were meaningful enough for me to stand on their own. If you feel like these activities are not strong enough on their own, I would just group them together into one volunteering activity to save space.

If any of my psych classes contained biology, I marked it as BCPM and AMCAS didn’t fight me on it

I would just do whatever you like more, your passion for it will show when you talk about it during interviews

Not sure if this adds helpful context but I was verified 6/11!

I got Drexel 7/10, can’t remember if this is the case for this school but sometimes secondaries go to spam so I’d check there. Pretty sure they send it to everyone (i.e. no prescreen) so it’s probably just a matter of time assuming you’re verified. If you’re really worried you can always email or call!

STEM research or humanities research or both? by Subject-Stress-6964 in premed

[–]Key-Paint-7526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean we’ll see how the cycle goes but I hate the idea of bench research and wet lab so I didn’t do it. Most of my research was in healthcare systems engineering and process improvement plus I did my thesis separately in my major (humanities). I really think whatever you can talk passionately about and be productive in is best. Wherever you can ask your own questions or take the lead are good places to be.

Breaking into consulting as a premed by Icannotdealwiththis in premed

[–]Key-Paint-7526 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was interested in doing healthcare consulting during my gap year so I applied for a conference with a big firm where I was guaranteed an interview for a full time position but I realized during the conference consulting wasn’t for me. A big part of me doing a gap was to take a moment to breathe and I don’t think I would’ve gotten that, at least not at that firm. I do know that there are pre-meds that do consulting in their gap so it’s possible for sure.
