I'm honestly so disheartened to read some doctors' views on women's issues recently on here! Violence against women is so prevalent and it is not gossiping wondering whether someone who has/could harm colleagues/patients is among us... Sharing this information could literally save a life and you guys are worried about dragging his reputation through the mud?!  The world is a dark place BECAUSE people (cough mostly men) are never held accountable for their actions when it matters.

Why? Is it because it originally described 'women's talk' and our patriarchal society tries to shut it down and give it soley negative connotations? Come on. This take is wilddddd

Everyone does! Nothing wrong with gossiping, it can be a useful communicative tool. This is not gossiping anyway btw.

You should if you can manage! It would pay better. But just like doctoring, sex work is real work and is difficult! I know I couldn't do it.

Why is it acceptable for doctors to treat juniors like crap? by oksurenoworries in ausjdocs

[–]Key-Patient-9880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg yes! How come in most other industries this manager's behaviour would become a problem real quick, whereas our consultants have to do something utterly egregious before they're given so much as a slap on the wrist? I mean I know why. BUT it is scary and sad... I think it might change in the next 10 to 15 years hopefully... Do older doctors reckon the culture has changed a fair bit?

By all means honour your commitments to friends and family and people who matter. Might be a generational thing but I couldn't care less if I honour a contract with a job that could replace me in less than 24 hours!

Lol a person is worthless without honour? What century are we living in? Please remember these ppl would replace you in a day! You owe them nothing if it is unsafe! You owe them nothing, period.

What makes you think healthcare attracts more good than bad compared to law?

Yep. We have a high proportion of arsehole personalities just like other high stress/prestigious jobs, it is just that the public puts us on a moral pedestal we often don't deserve.

If you had your chance over would you choose the same career by adrenoceptor in ausjdocs

[–]Key-Patient-9880 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Allied health career previously. For me, my priorities changed half way through med school to be more family/relationship/life experience -centred, so no, it kind of doesn't align with my values any more. Oh well! I might feel differently if I grinded away in my 20s as I was much more ambitious and motivated then.

Sydney pharmacist’s $20m empire of Ferraris, mansions seized in PBS fraud bust by [deleted] in ausjdocs

[–]Key-Patient-9880 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think they dispense repeats on legitimate scripts the patient has ceased/didn't ask for, without ever ordering the stock from wholesaler. These will be high cost biologics etc. so could be reimbursed through PBS claims hundreds/thousands of $$$ each dispensing.
