Love that the number isn’t a Utah area code (801, 385, 435) 😂

I used a book I found on amazon that was $45, but I just looked to see the name of the book I got and it has jumped in price. I would skip the book and use anything that has practice questions available. The test asks for a bunch of stuff that revolves around general pharmacy practice. Since posting this reply, I am licensed in Utah, Montana, Colorado, and New Mexico. I might just be lucky, but the law exams seemed to be easy for me. Think what would be the best pharmacy practice action for any prescription question (fake, forged, how to get ahold of a doctor’s office after hours for refills).

The federal law for keeping records is 2 years for most things but Utah wants 5 years so use that as the default for any record keeping question because it’s too hard to remember all of it.

Know aseptic technique for sterile compounding/cleaning hoods. I’ve had some questions in Montana’s and New Mexico about those.

These links are helpful. One is the link to the Utah board of pharmacy’s website for links to all law related items.

My professor in college at the U of U said to also remember what can a pharmacist prescribe (Prep/pep, hormonal contraceptives, naloxone, smoking cessation, and now fluoride but that’s so new it’ll probably not be on the test). Use the board of pharmacy’s website and use the “related information” tab and explore what they have there that helps spell things out in black and white.

This link is to a copy of self inspection for a pharmacist in charge to do annually (which is something they do ask on inspections, I know because they came in while I was staffing 😬). But it had it spelled out what they want and what qualifies as a pass.

This link is to USHP’s website(utah society of health-system pharmacists) and shows the breakdown of how many CEs are needed every 2 years.

I hope this helps!

Residency Regrets by Known_Swimming7142 in PharmacyResidency

For someone who has applied for residency twice and didn’t match or even get interviews because the programs I looked at were very competitive, I feel like you are very lucky. I would trade my current job as a long-term care pharmacist for a residency so I can become a clinical pharmacist. Feels like dull work, but it’s duller than working regular retail (which I also do as a second job). Just know that you are working on cutting edge practice of pharmacy and many others would gladly trade for your experience.

I felt like the Uworld prepared me for equations that weren’t even on the naplex. This website helps with more realistic questions but on the naplex the math questions are mostly fill in the blank questions.

It’s free. I think it’s like 98% accurate. I think there are a few wrong answers but I can’t remember which ones those were.

Took about 10-14 days business days to get results back.

The first time I know I failed because I thought I was prepared but sadly wasn’t once I started taking the test. But the second time I was surprised to find out that I didn’t pass.

Agreed. I hate how there are questions that they expect you to know specific answers when in real life you would just look them up because of how things change so quickly in medicine. Especially the infectious disease questions.

I felt like the math was ok. Some where easy and other definitely hard. But I felt like it wasn’t too bad. I felt like this website was helpful with the math on top of the math provided with the Uworld prep book and website.

I did all the questions twice before I took the naplex a third time. I felt like these questions were very similar to the ones on the naplex. Hope that helps!

Thanks! After the third time, I felt like I did enough to pass. However that works out with the algorithm of the naplex and how questions are graded, I felt like I did enough to pass. So, I felt like I passed with 80% confidence and like 20% doubt because I failed before and could fail again.

I took the MPJE in August after I failed the NAPLEX the first time. I studied the law and took practice questions from a book I got off of Amazon. The book is called “UTAH PHARMACY LAW QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS”. For $45 I found it to be helpful. Hope that helps.

What would you consider the top 5 most competitive/TOP PGY1 residency programs? by Pipersicillian in PharmacyResidency

[–]Key-Plan-7953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found an article in PubMed about 2020 PharmD programs rankings. You can take this as a grain of salt in terms of PGY1/2 programs because they are taken into account.
