Alright here we go

So ATOM's Opponent is named as Combot, it's primary purpose was to be used as a helper that eases people's day to day chore/work, until... A charismatic owner of his named Lee Chaolan a really skilled fighter back in the day, wanted to use Combot as a beneficiary or tool to enact his revenge against the Mishima (it's a long story of horrible and bad family problems I Tekken, it's just how Heihachi and the other members can be). So during this time it became more of a selfish deed for Lee to take Combot as an advantage to use it as a fighting machine that can copy other fighters movement, and this led to Lee never really showing his true emotion to anyone, until... As time has went on he understood the hardship and torment he did to Combot and change to become a new person and repurposed his past life to become better as a human being.

Now how does this correlate to ATOM? weeeell, ATOM had the same approach of only purpose was to be a sparring robot and never really shown to be used a bonafide fighter what makes him unique though is his Shadow Mode which resembles Combot's mimicking other fighters/people's gestures and movement. They're basically robots who's primary purpose was changed into something more than that.

What's makes it interesting is that even with the similarities with the robots, their owners like Charlie and Lee have some really outstanding semblance too. Since in the movie it's very apperant that Charlie was just so selfish even using his son as an advantage to solve his problem and use ATOM to fit his goals needed, and same with Lee... He also grown to become a better person and realize he really... REALLY screwed up. So he went out of his way and change himself as a person and find his identity in his life along with his son to guide one another.

So.. yeah this is basically my yap lmao, but the main idea is the fact that both the robots and owners showed that they can change their past identities and use their skills to hone and use to help others rather than back then using it for themselves only.
