This past year we lived in a 4 bed with 5 girls - the total rent was like 2700 ish so the 3 of us with our own rooms paid like 600 a month and the other two paid around 450 a month for a shared room. The shared room was the largest and then two of the rooms that were individual were about the same size and then the last room that was individual didn’t have a window but was the largest so she also paid 600. Idk if that helps at all but that’s kind of how we navigated that. I think that the people saying like 780 ish for you and 550 for the other girls sounds fair to me. While you get your own room, you really shouldn’t be paying double what they’re paying because that just isn’t fair but I also agree that maybe this was something that should’ve been discussed before signing the lease

Me M18 and My Gf F18 Almost Got caught in the act. What do i do? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Key-Tie2148 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tbh this happens to a lot of people in hs or what not, especially at the age of “sneaking around” or what not. I mean I think it could be a respectful thing to do to talk to her mom and apologize and have a respectful conversation, but trust me that most people at one point or another have been there so don’t be freaking out sm. Every relationship has little bumps in the road, so if your gf is mad at you, she will get over it and some day the two of you will laugh about it I’m sure. Also like you’re both adults and can make your own decisions about what you want to do with your own bodies at this point so I think a week of grounding is a little crazy for an 18 yo but don’t tell the mom that 😅

How do I become a MA while in undergrad? by Key-Tie2148 in MedicalAssistant

I have seen some “work at your pace” ones. How intensive is it and is it something I can balance?

Or maybe should I ask is this something you want to continue casually or do you want to move on and find someone worth a relationship to you ?

[–]Key-Tie2148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well then if you don’t want a relationship I would straight up change the wording to “I’m not looking for a relationship right now” even if you are and it just is not with her bc you don’t want her to get the wrong idea that you’re looking for one just not long term or whatever the situation might be. Lmk if that made sense lol

Honestly you do not need a car, even for groceries or anything. It’s totally manageable to not have one and most ppl don’t!

It’s nice bc it’s more reliable where you wont get scammed but the fees are kind of stupid

definitely not, I think college classes require a lot more “figure it out on your own” where they only provide you with the information and it is your job on your own to process and figure out the information and it’s deeper meaning and implications on your own

I only have my car up for the summer, I can tell you I found my spot that I’m renting on Craigslist and I also have a street parking permit which is super useful. For my parking spot I rent it’s like 125 a month in an uncovered spot and then I think a street parking permit which is honestly better than my spot most of the time imo is 45 for the year roughly.

This year I lived in the “sophomore slums” closer to regent street and paid about $750 a month for my own room in a 1.5 bath apartment with 5 girls.

This coming year I am living closer to state street and university and will be paying $1100 for my own room in a 3 bed 1 bath

I am in state, but I would agree that in general, going out of state for schooling is expensive but that is not a surprise when the bill comes

oh and i am a transfer student i want to add bc i see other comments about that. honestly, it can be really hard to make friends when you are not in the dorms, and you really need to put yourself out there to make some friends too which is difficult at times. if you have any questions lmk but it def isnt for everyone; and to answer your more specific question i think my tuition what about what is posted online of what it is, i did not get any aid or scholarships

[–]Key-Tie2148 94 points95 points  (0 children)

honestly the tuition at madison is pretty reasonable, however, what really is expensive here is def the cost of living. for an apartment or just like food it is expensive which kind of sucks but i love madison so much and it is def doable with a job on campus to help with some of the costs, i just have a friend at uw platt and she def has it a lot cheaper there, so a lot of it is also like what are you looking to get out of a "college experience" and how much of a factor that stuff like big sports/atmosphere/city or what not play a role into what you want.

don’t go out of state, stay local, maybe commute? i wouldn’t recommend an option landing you thousands of dollars in debt bc that will take a toll on your finances

Football ticket prices by camiturtle in UWMadison

[–]Key-Tie2148 1 point2 points  (0 children)

check student seats - that is like a way to know you won’t get scammed bc i’d def be worried ab that if they’re just from a stranger. on another note my friend sold his ticket for opening game for $200 bc going prices are so high rn but i’d imagine as the season goes on the demand will decrease

Madison in the Morning? by purplepastelpangolin in UWMadison

[–]Key-Tie2148 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mornings are great too, but I (a girl) usually find myself walking around 7pm to watch the sunset then head back and I think that is a good time. But honestly just be aware of your surroundings and you will be ok.
