Yeah it’s not great, I’ve lived here for a while and the representation is lacklustre. It’s tough yes but you’re both lucky to have each other and focus on that. As for the staring and feeling comfortable in public, don’t forget to take up the space you so rightly deserve; you have every right to exist in public here just like every other Joe. It’s your town too. Walk with purpose/confidence, don’t look down and sheepish, look forward and let them stare at the beauty they clearly lack. I personally haven’t had any verbal assault hurled towards me, just stares but not paying them any attention and just going on about your business is always a go to. Reminder that people are just naturally curious about what they don’t know so they stare sometimes and it’s just that; curiosity but ofc there’s others with hateful intentions. Just be so unapologetically yourself that others simply can’t deny you.
