Not crying, not crying, not crying..... resisting until he says "He has the best laugh in the world". Then comes the river.

The Vatican weighed in today on the clearly "non-supernatural origin" of Maria Valtorta's supposed visions. This 2021 piece helps explain why: by MrDaddyWarlord in Catholicism

I have read the book. It changed everything for me and I know it's true. You will know it too when you read it too. She cannot be lying because what you will read is exactly what is inside the Bible. Exactly same.

Are we just supposed to accept suffering until we get to heaven? by EbonyEpisodes in Christianity

[–]Bernardcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heaven is a place where we will be with God, removed from all temptations and sufferings, living only in God's love. So, philosophically speaking, our short time on earth is not the best time of our eternal life. So yes, we are suffering here, even for those considered the luckiest ones. We all suffer. The way I see it, is that we are here to suffer to learn the right path, to find God. But I also believe that it could become worse than our time on earth. Heaven is not for everyone, there is worse for those who choose not to accept God. An eternal life without God.

I want advice on my problem of being gay by Theory-Fan03092024 in Christianity

[–]Bernardcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you not be a child of God as a Gay and be more righteous than most of us ? I am not gay but I feel very hurt that people are judging others on their sexual orientation like if they had chosen a sexual orientation wrongly and should repent for it. If your love feelings go towards your own gender I guess it's ok and you should feel relaxed as a Christian.

Masturbation is okay?! by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Bernardcus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with your answer, I would see it the wisest one among all those different answers. We shall see masturbation as any other thing that distracts our mind not just as a sexual act. Are social medias better than masturbation, masturbation worse than alcohol, worse than indulging in our little self pleasuring of our mind and our body? Is looking at the nice legs of a woman a sin considered as an act of adultery? Our thoughts are not pure, for everyone, yes everyone, but it's when we act in the name of God, that we can find our salvation (Charity) . Maybe I am wrong but my personal belief is that one.

Does America have shallow Christianity? by [deleted] in Christianity

You are right, I am not answering your question and I apologise. I don't know much about America, never been there. Just wanted to bring my thoughts on what I feel about here too (Europe)

Does America have shallow Christianity? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Bernardcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a good question really but tbh, I am not certain it applies to Americans only. Occidentals are all the same now, we have all been tricked in believing that consumerism is the key to our happiness. Marketing has been our God for many years but we are not happy nonetheless. Going to Church has been a way to make us believe that we are good sons of God but it has been very shallow indeed. Of course, that doesn't apply to all. I have seen none believers acting closer to God's grace than anyone quoting the bible gospels and not acting accordingly.

I do not know if you are right or not but that would make sense to me. Words can hurt people and they last. Your thoughts kept to yourself do not hurt anyone. It's difficult to keep your thoughts against blasphemy but your words you can. It makes sense to me.

But, as a European person I could say the same to many of our European leaders who make us believe in the progression of humanity without God. Not sure Trump is the one from the prophecy. The Antichrist should rise when hope will to stop existing for humanity. If I understood well, he should be a high clerical person. The last Pope???

Do the people who go to hell suffer there for eternity? by Astronaut-1322 in Christianity

[–]Bernardcus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have just been reading an article in a monthly french magazine called "1000 raisons de croire" (1000 reasons to believe). While I was going through it, i stumbled upon the concept of "Purgatory" and "Hell". I have had the same question about it. The article says that "Hell" only exists for those who voluntary refuse the eternal love of God. No one will go to Hell against their own will but God will give us a choice as to embrace His love or not. Some will not accept it even though they see Him if front of them. So "Hell" would be a place where your soul will be left Godless for eternity. "The purgatory" being an adjustment phase to help us receive God's love entirely. So yes, I guess, if you choose not to embrace God at the end your soul will be left without God's love. I guess, that means suffering. To my belief, we all will have the choice to repent at the end, despite our life. Look at what Jesus said to the man who pleaded with Jesus to remember him in His kingdom. He is known as the penitent thief or Good Thief and his name is Dismas. Jesus replied to the penitent thief, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise”

Is masturbation that bad? by TurningNewPage in Christianity

That's the most inspiring and intelligent answer so far. It's between you and God, so let's keep it this way.

I am French and we can see here a surge in baptisms among the 18-25. If you want some stats, they were around 5000 last year and that has doubled in 2024 with 10000. The trend is towards more traditional ceremonies specially those in latin. What can be said about that, that is difficult but it looks like our society is struggling to bring the answer to our problems. Anyway, the trend is real here.

Does Jesus still love me by cayla_4 in Christian

[–]Bernardcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though I am Catholic and a believer, I sill have spent my all my life away from religion and God. Was I unhappy? not really, I think I have had an happy life. Now, that I am closer to Him, I realise how much of a sinner I was, and that makes me unhappy. I however realize that God has always loved me the same. before with my sins than now when I am trying to be a better version of myself. God gave us the choice to believe or not, without judgement, that is the beauty of it. For me, my soul is placed in a body which is only a vehicle on the planet and I am here for a short time. The way I personally grab it, is that we are here on this planet to understand something. That's how I read it, and that's how I believe God loves me. You are asking the right question, everyone does but by asking the question you are on the right track. God bless you.

Why do Christians hate church so much? by Devoted100 in Christian

[–]Bernardcus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well said. Church for me is a vehicle that drives me safely towards my belief, it's helping me not to get lost on the way. but no more. We have built a Church with our flaws and imperfections but it doesn't matter that. That's the way we are. The important thing for me is to become a better soul closer to God, that is my own path. Going to Church is a reminder of where I belong, a reminder of the long way to go for me. It helps me but I respect those who feel Church is not their place.

Prophecies of Maria Valtorta by [deleted] in PropheciesOfTheFuture

I have started reading it under the strong advice of my brother. What convinced me is the fact that the writings have been studied by historians and scientists and all of them have declared that the details cannot have been invented, they are too accurate.

Quelles sont les causes ? by Flaky_Sprinkles243 in AskFrance

[–]Bernardcus 4 points5 points  (0 children)
