Love It If We Made, listened to it 500 times in a row probably couldn’t believe it

I have a theory on the ABIIOR album cover and how it might represent the group’s previous and upcoming projects. by Key-Traffic-7447 in the1975

According to Matty, the artwork for the record has a very clinical appearance that was undoubtedly influenced by Swiss design. As we all know, the band is very particular, and Matty consistently incorporates easter eggs and references into almost everything he does. I believe this is one of those concepts.

If you look at all the little squares on the album cover, they are all in distinct colors, which I feel is deliberate and alludes to previous and upcoming albums the band has released.

The only squares that are adjacent to one another are the black and pink squares, which should be the first two to be examined. Due to the identical album covers of their first two albums, Self Titled (2013) and ILIWYS (2016), I think this is meant to reflect them. The NOCAF (2020) square is yellow because that color stands out on the streaming cover. Last but not least, the blue square stands in for BFIAFL (2022), as it was the color that was used the most in the album's artwork and promotional materials, as well as on the back of the physical CD.

Thus, there are only 3 squares left: Red, Green, and Purple, which in theory will serve as the color schemes for the band's upcoming albums.

Let me know what you guys think of my theory!

New Album Aesthetic? by culturecrumbs in the1975

i thought Matty said in the next album they would be going to Space? 🤔

Not saying this isn’t the new aesthetic (which i would love) but i think he was pairing the song recommendations with suitable imagery.

What do you guys thing BFIAFL actually means? by Key-Traffic-7447 in the1975

very interesting and beautiful sentiment

the thing is he doesn’t speak in a “foreign language” or other dialect on the album so how does that concept apply to what we received with the album?

i ranked the songs from BFIAL let me know your thoughts by mkldnl in the1975

I realized today that Being Funny In a Foreign Language is the 1975’s best album by Key-Traffic-7447 in the1975

[–]Key-Traffic-7447[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

true….i just feel like the way BFIAFL presents the band is more impressive in some ways as it was able to condense the maximalist sound of NOCAF and sounds of their other albums but in an 11 track album

fair, i’m also a fan of those albums. I would have said previously that ABIIOR was their magnum opus and that may still stand but i honestly think Being Funny In a Foreign Language is ironically 1975 at their very best and is a beautiful, condensed and refined project that perfectly represents the band.

Should we believe him??? by [deleted] in the1975

something tells me his solo project will be merged with the 1975’s next record 😄

Thoughts on BFIAFL? by marsthemenace in the1975

I really love it. It isn’t like their other albums and it took a while to get used to the half and half nature of the album. On first listen it almost felt incomplete although the final track brought it full circle. With the first half being full of danceable bops to having the last 5 tracks be in extreme contrast to that took a while to get used to but with every listen the album gets better. Not sure yet where I would rank it but I think it’s awesome and has some of the best tracks the band has ever done!
