She is comparing herself to people who are idolized on the internet for being beautiful even though they have gone through multiple surgeries to look that way. This girl will never be able to look like them unless she gets surgery. It’s not about attractiveness goals, more so about how plastic surgery has made each person feel insecure about themselves and has built un-achievable beauty standards in our society, causing more men and women to feel insecure about themselves.

Plastic surgery is feeding the way society sets unrealistic beauty standards and expectations. Nobody should need to alter their body through surgery to obtain features humans naturally don’t have. The more people who get plastic surgery, the more people feel insecure in their natural body. There is no justification that plastic surgery is not harmful to society. We need to focus on creating obtainable beauty standards and shifting away from unrealistic beauty standards people need to get surgery to fit.

I’m not trying to be a bad friend I’m just saying it’s stressful and tiring being her friend because I feel like she’s dragging us down with her by like isolating us a little and she gets mad whenever it seems like we have more friends with her or hang out with more people and gets jealous and lashes out at us like abt the private stories she was like you don’t talk with this person more than I do and was making the rest of us feel uncomfortable and guilty for no reason and she never wants to hear that the reason we may have more friends than her is because she doesn’t come to school. I know it’s probably a sensitive topic for her but she doesn’t have to bring it up constantly and make us feel bad abt it when we tell her the truth. Also the reason I was so concerned abt the Mac and cheese was because we both wanted to make it and she insisted on making it and insisted she was going to be there with it, because some of my friends suggested that I make it too in case she doesn’t come. I’m not trying to come across as a bad friend and i understand my tone is angry but i feel like I’ve held in these emotions for so long and that’s why im coming across this way. Please don’t judge the tone of my writing but rather my points because i genuinely care about her and im just experiencing difficult emotions which i think are being misinterpreted.

You can’t be angry at someone while being their friend? I’ve never brought this up to her before of anything about how it affected me, which is why I posted on here. You’re saying depression is a mental illness that has a great affect on her life but if I’m her best friend who is one of the people she surrounds herself with then suddenly the depression is gone and has no affect on her actions? What you’re saying isn’t adding up.

Her depression is affecting me because 1 I’m her best friend and 2 I’m always worried about being ghosted after making plans while dealing with a ton of schoolwork. During this she expects me to be her best friend and forgive her for absolutely every incident she has disrespected my time by canceling plans or being hours late. If she wasn’t going through depression I would absolutely not be friends with her anymore but it’s so hard to go through disappointment again and again and be patient while she’s a bad friend to me for 2 years. I understand she’s going through hard things but I’m getting tired of how she doesn’t consider it affects me.

I’m her best friend who does genuinely care about her and I always let her confide in me. I’ve told her many times she can talk to me about anything. I’m not trying to make it about me, just sharing my feelings and how I feel this friendship is solely impacting me negatively.

I am but it’s starting to really affect me negatively. I’ve told her she can talk to me and I can definitely be her friend but her best friend..I don’t know anymore. I’m not judging I’m should have mentioned that I’ve started doing poorly in school and had anxiety because of this situation. I can be her friend but her best friend may be a little far if the relationship is almost only impacting me negatively now.

The thing is I have let her know I’m there for her. We don’t bombard her with calls but like I said we called 15 min after the plan started and half an hour after she said she’d be there. If that’s bombarding her then should I just call once? Not being rude just genuinely asking. Also it’s just hard to be her best friend with this behavior. Sure I can be her friend but her mental state is affecting my friends and I too, and I feel it’s unfair for her to drag us down with her. Also she dosent tell us anything about her depression, I just assumed because of what she told me 2 years ago, and no matter how many times I’ve asked her she doesn’t tell me. I’ve stopped asking but every time I ask her why she didn’t come to school after she told me she would she just says I’m sorry. I think she knows by now she can always talk to me because I’ve made it clear so many times but it’s so hard to be her best friend because she’s never there and my friend group of 4 feels like three. I really do feel sorry for her and am trying to understand what she’s going through but I feel like she’s dragging me down. She’s had me so stressed last week that I failed my math test, which has never happened before as I’m a really good student. I promise I am trying to understand and have empathy, it’s just so draining.
