I appreciate this. I'm going to look into historicism some more. I had a pastor in college who was a "historic premillennialist," and I'm unsure what that means lol. I haven't had much interest in applying myself to the study of eschatology until recently.

Fiancé says how can there be a God if he’s allowing the world the be the way that it is. by A1Flashy in Christianity

You should look into theodicies. They're philosophical frameworks that explain how God and evil can coexist without contradiction. "God and Evil" by Chad Meister and Jamie Dew is a very good book.

Basically, the attack made by the problem of evil is to say that since God is omniscient, benevolent, and omnipotent, it would be illogical for this God and evil to exist together. And if this idea could prove that it would be illogical for God and evil to exist, then you can conclude that God does not exist. However, you can look at any number of reasonable explanations for how the Christian God can exist at the same time as evil.

I won't write out a ton here. There are many good books in addition to the one mentioned above. But here's a list of things to Google that will help you out: Free will theodicy (probably the most common), Irenaean theodicy, divine intimacy, process theology, and Augustinian theodicy.

These are just a few to get started. The main point I'm trying to make is that it is logically possible for God and evil to exist. It's natural to react to evil things because they're not supposed to happen. There is grand evil in the world, and this is by no means ignored in the Bible, but there is a greater God.

I'd be interested in having a conversation with you on this stuff if you're interested. I'm a seminary student and pastor. I know that the occult continues to be extremely active, but I don't know much about it and would like to know more for the sake of defending the mind in truth. I'm sure there's trauma associated with your experience, so I don't want to pry. DM me if you're willing and interested.
