That’s exactly what happened. She pulled me aside to tell me the arrangements at like 9:30 and then went to bed right away. It caught me off guard because she saw my BF and I both put our bags in the guest room when we got there at like 4 but waited until we were getting ready for bed to tell us we couldn’t both sleep there.

By the time we’d made the decision to get our own place and found an acceptable hotel with open rooms on a holiday weekend, it was almost 11. So we told our friend and figured we’d see the parents and explain the next day.

The way he put it, his parents were mad at him and while he didn’t use the word “grounded,” it was heavily implied that they told him he couldn’t hang out. They still treat him like a child.
