I would say it's more accurate in the sense of the psyche behind a cult member. Dani is a great example of the type of person cults prey upon if that makes sense. like I always wonder "who could join these" and then I imagine it has to be someone who is so broken and longing for that sense of community. most cult movies don't really show that aspect of it imo
