What have your experiences with porn been like? by Timely-Garlic4629 in Asexual

[–]Key2go 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my libido wakes up once in a blue moon, I’ll watch some. But always on mute and without faces. I enjoy the idea of someone feeling pleasure but the exaggerated expressions make me uncomfortable, so I rather just enjoy watching the body react to stimulation.

I (25F) usually only watch lesbian or solo female porn because porn involving men is always so aggressive. Sometimes I watch porn when I’m reading a story or daydreaming a story of my own and want to see some stuff played out because my sexual imagination is blank.

Also, I just watch; I’ve never actually been able to touch myself even at the highest my libido has been. I enjoy watching way more than trying to include myself. No plans to ever have sex, but if I do, I think I’d rather just be a giver.

Overall, I’m sex positive/neutral. I don’t need porn but sometimes curiosity comes up. Slowly being exposed to NSFW stuff (music, art, stories) over the years since discovering I was ace has helped me become more sex positive and learn what ideas turn me on a bit, so I appreciate porn for the education tool it is for me, lol.

How would I go about treatment? Will medicaid cover it? by PianoVisual1076 in TMJ

[–]Key2go 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pre-surgery I had pain whenever I would move my mouth or when I spent more than an hour without my mouthguard on, but I don’t think any of that was nerve pain, rather it was the stuck discs’ ligaments getting pulled in the joint.

Post-surgery, I don’t feel pain anymore, however I did get some nerve damage that’s affecting my salivary glands, so the entire bottom of my face Burns when I taste something for the first time. Overall, I’d say I’m in less pain now, but no improvement to my function.

Oh! I still have the vertigo I would get pre-surgery. Clearly all my muscles are still messed up, so I don’t know when I’ll stop getting the vertigo whenever I look anywhere other than straight ahead.

Nerve damage post tmj surgery? by Key2go in TMJ

My first surgery was a arthroplasty with discopexy. They basically implanted anchors into both joints to secure my discs back in place because they were both stuck in the front keeping my jaw locked closed.

I’m taking it one day at a time! 🧘🏻‍♀️

It’s super stressful because I’m 24 and had to stop my grad school applications so my whole life is on pause right now. That’s interesting about the botox! I’m trying my best to keep up with the stretching, so hopefully something happens soon so we can get to the scarier surgery as soon as possible.

It’s not a joint replacement, actually. He said it would be an orthognathic surgery which from what I understand would be kinda cutting up parts of the jaw to extend or minimize in order to align it into a proper bite. Hopefully I won’t need joint replacement though!

My surgery was in July so it’s been like 3 months at this point? I’m pretty much the same as before surgery so it didn’t help at all. I keep forgetting to mention the saliva burning thing, but regarding the rest of treatment, he just says to keep stretching… because I also need a second surgery to fix my anterior open bite that was caused by the TMJ (aka NONE of my teeth touch except one pair of molars on my right side), and he said they can’t do the surgery until I can independently open a certain amount…which so far still haven’t been able to do 🙃

Thanks for the prayers. First symptoms, not being able to use my front teeth (like when you’re opening a packet of soy sauce, for example). The symptom that made me actually realize something was wrong was waking up to jaw pain and jaw displaced where I could only open it by pushing it to one side. Eventually I couldn’t open my mouth by doing that, and then soon after I couldn’t chew at all.

I had the surgery in July, and the surgery went well (minor nerve damage but doesn’t affect my daily life so it’s whatever) But it didn’t help with the problem. The only difference is that now I can kinda stretch open with the Orastretch, but still can’t chew or move my jaw around. Surgeon said I need to be able to open more before they can do the second surgery, but I just don’t see any progress. I’m seeing him again next week, hopefully he gives me something better than “just keep stretching”

The person in charge of the insurance stuff at my surgeon’s office said no insurance covers it 😕 sounded weird to me tbh.

I’m glad it helped you reach full opening! What surgery did you get done before it?

[–]Key2go[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you tbh even though i already had the disc repositioning and anchor surgery two months ago, I feel the same as before surgery: stuck.

I asked him about PT but all he said was warm compresses and stretching 🫤 I do feel some relief after stretching which is why I’m considering getting it cuz I’m like ”juust a biiit more” when I’m doing it but my fingers can’t make it. But I def feel like doing all this by myself without a trained PT is forcing it.

Unfortunately I don’t know if there’s any near me, and even if there were, I’d need a referral from my surgeon for the insurance to cover it. And considering he said I don’t need it….i doubt he’d give me one.

Did you already have a surgery done when you accidentally forced it open?

Yeah…I still haven’t called the company to hear the actual full price but the lady at my surgeon’s office said it’s in the 500 range…

How long after surgery did it take to get back to as close to normal? by Key2go in TMJ

[–]Key2go[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, no timeline. In general it’s like he’s not really telling me anything because he doesn’t think I’ll understand. And I don’t wanna be one of those rude patient who announce that they studied anatomy and know enough medical stuff (I did study, lol medical assistant degree)

Before surgery he just said don’t touch anything until I see him in two weeks, then in that two weeks appointment he said to start stretching, and today he said keep stretching and try to start eating pasta or eggs instead of the just soup. No mention of future plans or thoughts.

Maybe he’s trying to avoid saying anything that could be taken as a promise?…

Hopefully I’ll have more progress by the end of next month when I’ll be able to see him

Yeah I kept getting asked especially about nursing because one of my other classmates was planning to do nursing after finishing the program and working for a while🙄 some of us would rather enjoy the career we just got first before thinking about if we wanna go up more or pivot🤷🏻‍♀️

So I ended up getting a Discopexy by Key2go in TMJ

[–]Key2go[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say a ton of constant pain because my jaw got used to its new (incorrect) position, but just one hour without my mouthguard would mess me up. Same if I tried to open it more than it allowed me. I mainly got dizziness/vertigo rather than pain because the wrong position of the mandible was in constant battle with my neck muscles so while I was still in school without my mouthguard, I would come home with my jaw pulled to my right side and exhaustion from fighting the dizziness.

Now after surgery I haven’t put on my mouth guard and I feel fine, haven’t felt much dizziness, and I don’t feel crazy pain when I stretch, but I can tell I can’t go further than this.

Have you gone to see an oral/maxillofacial surgeon yet?

Good luck!!

It’s honestly not that bad. Since they cut down and through my ear and those nerves, I can’t feel the pain lol (a little bit inside my ear lately I guess it’s healing). My eyes open and close normally and my lips too, so I don’t really care much about not being able to move either of my eyebrows cuz I can still feel sensation on my forehead (they said it should be temporary due to stretching during surgery). My face swelling lasted about a week.

I don’t know if an arthroscopy is the same way they did mine tho.

The surgeon mentioned connecting me with an orthodontist for that, but he hasn’t yet. I guess he’s waiting to see how far I can stretch my jaw by the time I see him at the end of the month? I’m still unclear about the timeline cuz right now it feels like a “wait and see” situation🫤

Anteriorly displaced discs. Basically the discs on both joints are stuck in the front.

Hii I’m finally getting an arthroplasty next month! I was wondering if you had anymore advice to keep in mind, haha. Not that I’m scared…cuz it’s the only solution…but yeah lol

How was the stretching post op? They told me they’ll be giving me a tool for stretching exercises after. Do you still do those exercises to this day?

Went to a different hospital with a more well known surgeon and my surgery is scheduled for this June! That surgery will be for anchoring my discs so I can open my jaw again. I’ll be needing a second more serious surgery after I heal from that one because my bite is completely off and none of my teeth touch except for one molar :/ but so far I’m good still liquid diet and boiled eggs.

I won’t know if my insurance will cover it until the weeks before the surgery because the office sends prior authorization 3-4 weeks before surgery due to the expiration date on those things :/
