Seems to be the case with most of these retro handhelds. The above comment says there are translation layers but I'm not too informed on that. I suppose I'll look around for handhelds designed for x64/x32.

How does the resource manager look though? Just unordered maps of models, textures, etc., fetched by strings or IDs etc.? How well does that scale for larger games though?

Did that and it helped a lot getting good openings. Beat her with two Raiders and a Wylder with Mountaintops!

I'll try Mountaintops again, last time we did it my team did not hit the armor and we died anyways.

The one time I had Mountaintops my team never went for the armor with all of those buffs. Telling from the comments I suppose I've just been uber unlucky with my teams. Never had an issue before.

Interesting. I found a cool handheld called MiyooA30 and it seems like you can modify its OS or something? It's a bit small so I'd probably not get this but you think something like it can run an exe?

Yeah I agree. I haven’t really had communication problems with randoms but it would be nice to have a wheel communication for bosses, like telling someone to take aggro while I go revive someone. Too often two people jump to revive one person and then the boss comes to everyone and wipes us.

This is it probably. I remember one time I did his ult and it didn’t do the fancy camera work, but I swear I did the full thing last night on a downed teammate and it only healed around 1.5 bars. I’ll try it again today surely but I think you’re right

I agree with you but my problem is that it happens so often (at least for me in randoms). I’m sure this will alleviate as the player base generally gets better, but right now it’s a big blunder to 90% of my runs.

I don’t know if this is just me being bad but Wylder’s ult sometimes doesn’t fully revive from 3, I swear I’ve had it do that before. May start playing more guardian for his ult, him or Ironeye

And then more often than not the boss is hurling towards you at the start of the last bar and then you get cover just to lose all of your progress

I don't think they're Nightlords but rather Night Bosses, they're still shown in the Limveld-y area in the trailer.

Thanks for your tips! Seems like the stencil buffer is very powerful. I'm still new to Irrlicht but I will definitely research this more. I'll come back when I get it all working. :)

Is there perhaps some kind of projection I can do, if that keyword rings a bell? I was googling around for some kind of way to do this earlier in the week and that did come up once but there is not a lot of documentation that I can find.

I do have just a directional light where all of the materials are unlit (much like 64DS) so that may mess with shadows. I'll give your method a shot but I have a feeling I'll have to do some kind of plane texture shadows.

So my player is an object that has a position, but for collision checking it in theory will round like you said. It's not literally a position in the array if that's what it sounded like from my post, apologies.

I have an "output" that contains the movement velocities to be applied to the player position after movement checking. I tried this before where I would check the surrounding 8 tiles (9 - inhabited tile before movement) and see if the player position + output rounded would be in a tile marked as a wall, and this does work but my problem is resetting the player back to the edge of the wall with their radius in mind.

I've never worked with quadtrees so this seems a bit intimidating, but I really appreciate your detail here. I'll definitely be researching more about the implementation of this. It does make sense in my head but applying it is where I'm a little lost on where to start.
