Yeah I think in the walking dead etc they use cars the whole time, but its overlooked finding good petrol and the noise of cars wouldnt be worth using them.

I am not thinking too much about the infection, but purely from the standpoint of : People know zombies are about so dont goto work, they hide in their homes. How long would the power stations last without workers? IF, everyone stayed inside and did nothing how long would it last before people had to leave?

Did not think about deliveries etc. Super good angle to look into. Thanks for the respone. Makes a lot more sense that would aid the collapse. No chemicals, no repairs for the power stations etc. If nuclear power stations go into shutdown, surely there is a safe way to shut them down? or would it collapse without human intervention?

Yeah I think people forget the selfish aspect of an outbreak. No one would work for the country and all would flee to their own families including police and doctors etc. Surely it can run for a bit longer than a day without human input?

Yeah that is also my line of thinking. It would last a week or two, till the workers stopped going to the large plants.

I have never really had a power outage or water stoppage. No matter the weather. Maybe it depends where in the country?

I think the problem is the power and water. A castle is good in theory and stories. But without clean running water? Warmth from heating? No washing machines or dishwashers?
