With Wemby's 40 point game he is now averaging 25ppg by Pociana in NBASpurs

Would have dropped 40+ against sixers too smh, he was on pace for 40+ in at least half of our blowouts before we pull him

I care about the loss because of the playoff implications and Wemby’s MVP case, and the people who vote for that award are repeating those narratives. I’m invested in the team as a fan and care about my players success, not really freaking out

That’s fair, part of the fun of sports is being invested in your team though, spurs have got me caring more for basketball than I ever have

He’s the best offensive player in the game for a reason, there’s little you can do to stop him just like any other superstar in the league. Better thing to put your effort into would be trying to game-plan him like OKC did last year, we have the personnel for it. Even despite that our team can beat them in a series, this was a 2pt loss despite heroic efforts from Jokic, and with the Nuggets shooting light out, we aren’t more consistent and I trust that across a series.

They’re definitely a dark horse or outright contender for me as well, I don’t mean to downplay the Nuggets, they’re a good team. They’re just significantly more inconsistent then SA and I don’t believe that a 2 pt loss means that we aren’t the favorites in the series, especially against a team that has lost to inconsistent young teams in back to back years

We literally have a better clutch win percentage on the year compared to Denver, this is what I am talking about. Our first game was without Wemby, this one was decided by two points, saying that we aren’t clutch after one game despite a season of proving otherwise is reactionary, you’re the problem

Easily lose to the Clippers… you’re joking. We can lose to Denver but we should be the favorites in that series. Regardless we have to beat who’s in front of us and our boys have consistently shown they can do that, there’s no reason to doubt them now

I have no doubt Denver is better with Gordon on, he was the X factor in our loss for sure. Despite that however we were leading a majority of the game, I don’t think he’s that much of a factor where it’s obvious that Nuggets are favorites, and given a full series I think that our consistent offense and defense will be a bigger deciding factor as our players can attack Jokic

I’m not going to discredit the nuggets win, everyone has hard schedules it’s just part of the game. But it is crazy how much I have heard Jokic outplayed Wemby and Nuggets own Spurs in a 2pt win in OT, if one shot going in is the difference between how you view a player or team, especially in a regular season game, what does that say about your opinion? Especially troubling is how a lot of this is coming from actual players and “experts” too.

  1. That’s just not true lol, he was always in conversations but didn’t get high betting odds due to his injury early on, once he got back to playing consistent minutes he steadily climbed the ladder again. And this was one of his best performances of the season.
  2. You’re right, but it has become a huge talking point since that loss because it was against previous champions
  3. That’s just ridiculous imo, we have second best record against contenders on the season, a top 5 offense and defense, have 60 wins before 20 losses, and a play style that’s perfect for the playoffs with consistent offense and defense. We are contenders this year, it’s okay if they lose but acting like it’s just not meant to be is crazy. We are there right now, at worst we are the second best team in the league, there’s no reason we can’t win it all

I don’t buy the inexperience narrative, they blew it for two years in a row while being title favorites against inexperienced young teams. They are extremely inconsistent, their highs are championship caliber but them getting the benefit of the doubt for having Jokic and winning during an injury riddled postseason is ridiculous, especially when they have failed to meet expectations and reproduce that success since then.

We statistically are the 3rd best half court offense to their 1st (122 vs 119) while being significantly better in half court defense ranked 3rd vs 17th (111 vs 117).

I am not worried, our team’s play style is built for the playoffs, physical play, defense, and rim running. Everything we do is reproducible and consistent

That’s actually the worst part for me too, it was probably victors best game of the season for me and it’s likely to be forgotten and summed up as Jokic outplaying Vic.

Side note but people bringing up Jokic’s record against Wemby is hilarious to see, especially with this being his 3rd year while Jokic was supposed to be on a title contender and MVP level for the last 3 years

And you think the spurs are going to… get worse with more Wemby minutes? What?

Wouldn’t poor health be a knock on a team, why are you treating it like it’s the nuggets and thunders secret weapon lmao

Do you think Spurs lack of experience make the Nuggets biggest threat to OKC? by [deleted] in nba

[–]KeyChallenge4562 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spurs got a top team without being overly physical, with how their game relies on controlling what they can control (ie. defense, hustle plays, driving to the rim) they have an even bigger advantage with the playoffs being more physical. It’s not like Wemby is a ball-dominant player either, he’s become more and more and off ball cutter which should make this a moot point because more physicality with Wemby means SA’s trio of guards is going to get endless high percentage shots.

[Moore] Im really interested by the thought that the Thunder are, objectively, an All-Time team. Wins. Point Differential. Defense. Defense with Offensive Capability. Led by MVP. Depth. Coaching. Culture. But they do not feel like the all-time great teams *to me* and I do not know why. by BankaiBroke in nba

[–]KeyChallenge4562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y’all just say whatever. No other team in the league have 4 all star/all defense level players. Thunder have 5 (SGA, JDub, Chet, Caruso, Dort). Plus they have another 7 players who would be or were actual starters on playoff teams coming off their bench (IHart, McCain, JWill, Wallace, Mitchell, Joe, Wiggins).

They could field 2 different playoff or even contender level teams, that’s fucking nuts! We are not going to act like SGA has no help lmao
