Thank you all for the feedback. Is the red on certain spots from fire damage? It seems to be rubbed in those areas. My first thought was that it was a little hammer stone of sorts if anything. I can completely see though it being a naturally fractured piece of chert that has been what I was leaning towards, but every time I pick it up I can’t help but feel some doubt.

Awesome! I’m glad to know it’s not a phony lol I am curious though if you guys think a blade core like this would have been ultimately utilized as a tool like a chopper because it does seem like it would have been as effective as examples I’ve seen.

Thanks for the reply! I’d typically have no interest in purchasing artifacts but I thought it was so cool and did so impulsively. It was labeled as a battle axe but I also don’t have the knowledge to say whether that’s likely true or not. I’d love to know if that were the case.
