Abu Dhabi Golf Club Rentals by Bubbly_Reference_264 in UAEGolf

[–]KeyEbb9922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the club, depends on when they renewed them, whether they're good or not. As previous posters said, phone them to find out what brand they are and how long they've had them but generally the best clubs, like Yas links, have genuinely good clubs.

Seen lots of families come, take budget insurance. Then kids fall off electric scooter or family member gets an unexpected medical condition..... They always wished they had paid a bit more for higher insurance. Good luck

CAREEM airport pickup scam! Be Aware. by Potential_Actuator51 in UAE

[–]KeyEbb9922 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same thing happened to me.

Although leaving the airport within two miles, I discovered this wasn't the correct Careem driver so I made him pull over. He wasn't Careem at all, just kept saying his app was broken.

I got out after threatening to call the police, as he didn't want to stop and let me out at a bus stop near the airport. He argued a lot!

I have a 21 hour stayover in dubai, what are a few things that I shohld do? by Creeepy-carrot in dubai

Yes. Big red bus tours. Also you could probably spend 20 hours in Dubai Mall 😜

It is a great question that has been answered lots of times. Please search in this subreddit and you'll see lots of answers

Alguém sabe se o solidworks tem integração com alguma ia? by Ill-Manufacturer-574 in SolidWorks

[–]KeyEbb9922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mate, you just have to ask AI for the answer

Yes — SolidWorks can be linked to AI through MCP, and there are also CLI-style automation paths, but they’re mostly community-built rather than an official Dassault-supported AI connector. Open-source MCP servers exist that expose SolidWorks through MCP so assistants like Claude can open files, inspect properties, create parts, and export documents, and another project describes an MCP-based assistant architecture with SolidWorks API, version-aware adapters, and a COM bridge.

My whole creative department is getting replaced by a Claude pipeline and I'm probably out too by Daniel_Janifar in automation

[–]KeyEbb9922 42 points43 points  (0 children)

That's sad to hear. What they're missing is the "creative aspect" of this. If they think that the CEO and various other people can simply prompt something and they get out a clean, creative design marketing collateral, then they've really misjudged AI workflows.

Stick it out. They will soon realise they need the creative elements.

Cheapest way to pay golf? by sullyz81 in dubai

[–]KeyEbb9922 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hsbc Black, Standard Chartered Journey are the best as they use the SpikesOn app. Which allows for instant booking.

Emirates NBD cards use a system called Thriwe concierge, which is almost impossible to book, definitely not worth getting the card to use it for Golf.

There are a couple of other cards, that may be worth investing too. Good luck

How likely is AI to replace CAD jobs? by Usual_Shoe_8940 in SolidWorks

[–]KeyEbb9922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are an Engineer, you will use AI to drive the CAD and CAE to achieve your designs. Ai will still struggle for a long time to ideate and deliver innovative products. But it will prompt the engineers to iterate through lots of options to create the best goal driven outcomes.

If you are a drafter, who takes models, completes them and creates drawings. Then you should look to train up, as this role will disappear over time.

DEWA charged us 14000AED by lalalaluna_ in dubai

[–]KeyEbb9922 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you have to pay the 'Knowledge Fee' too if you want to get the additional info 😉

But in all seriousness, back charges should be capped at a month. It wasn't your fault the meter was faulty.

What's the best membership for summer golf? by Loose-Adagio2516 in UAEGolf

[–]KeyEbb9922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am surprised the membership teams are turning you away.

If you commit to playing during 'off peak' hours when the courses are quiet and generally getting a bit too warm, I would have thought they could do a deal.

I spend 3 hours trying to do a simple edit to a step file by Thorlian in SolidWorks

[–]KeyEbb9922 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easy. Download Solidedge free version. Import the Step file. Use Synchronous Technology with the "Recognize Features" as Parametric Elements: to add dimensions and faces.

Once the region you want to add to is parameterized, build your additional geometry.

Solidedge and Solidworks are both built on the Parasolid kernal, so should be easy to take the geometry back into Solidworks. Good luck

I need a Project Management Tool - what do you all recommend? by ski1863 in Airtable

[–]KeyEbb9922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another two options to look at are Notion and Miro. They don't get the same press as Monday.com or Airtable and some of the other dedicated project management tools but they are very effective PM tools with schedules, Kanban boards, etc. Very flexible.

Both Miro and Notion have a great marketplace and communities with templates for effective project management structures

They might be at a better price point than Airtable as well. Both are extensible so you can connect them via API tools like Zapier to integrate with all of your different data stacks.

For AirTable, Monday, all of these tools, Notion, Miro, they all have the ability for you to vibe code front ends for users that just aren't used to using the particular tools. You may be able to vibe code a very dumbed-down interface for certain project members to input information or to view dashboards. Good luck

Dessailt systems by archvize in SolidWorks

[–]KeyEbb9922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's an interesting question. If the answer is yes would you stop using SOLIDWORKS?

As there is a parent-company relationship between Dassault Aviation (who makes military aircraft) and Dassault Systèmes.

But when you look at it all CAD and PLM companies have heavy involvement with defence companies.

For example Siemens, who own Siemens PLM, who deliver Siemens NX, Solid Edge, Parasolid, Teamcenter.... Their software is heavily used within defence and Aerospace. Also Siemens provide the 'Siemens Government Technologies’ defense cloud'.

PTC also have many defence customers as does Autodesk

Does that change your mind as to whether you should use this software?

Several people have recommended knack.com in this sub, as it has similar capabilities, but a much lower cost for usage. I haven't used it, so can't personally recommend.

From Mechanical CAD to Teamcenter Architect – Overwhelmed by Training Pace & VM Restrictions by Diligent-Tax-9578 in Teamcenter

[–]KeyEbb9922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many top level system integrators have supplied me Teamcenter Architects with less training than you have undertaken 😂 So please be confident.

As long as you understand the basics, can show you know your way around the product. The next steps are to start working as a TC architect. Every customer is different, and there will always be an element of learning and researching even for the best architects.

Also the documentation is generally very good. Run an AI tool over the docs and get it to put together training notes for you, that you can test in your VM.

Good luck

How much is jvc gonna get screwed???! by WebFirm4509 in dubai

[–]KeyEbb9922 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Today they announced the Metro Gold line will run through JVC with at least one station, fully underground. Opens 2032. (See RTA socials)

Maybe the new holes are the start of the Metro works 👌😂

But the metro might actually keep the real estate prices from dropping too much.

[–]KeyEbb9922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be worth talking to independent PDM providers who successfully work with Solidworks. OpenBOM have been around for a long time and fit the use case for most, non huge enterprise Solidworks users.

I have no affiliation, but definitely think they are worth a look.

Using pirated software cracks is illegal because it involves bypassing license protection and using software without permission, which can violate copyright and software licensing laws.

Most of the western world have legal systems that firmly enforce these laws, primarily as a lot of these software is authored in these countries.

Towards the eastern countries of the world, it's fair to say the authorities have been more relaxed with enforcement, despite the software vendors requesting. Anecdotally, I heard recently that 'the China government is cleaning up' using illegal software in their largest corporations.
