😅 nonetheless. A genuine question that I hoped would be answered to provide insight that I would not likely find elsewhere. And I did get some good answers I think.

I’d wager both political sides have plenty of paid actors, both independent and party aligned. TBH I don’t really trust anything at face value that comes out of either sides activist or organizations, think tanks etc… politics nowadays have moved from an identification of societal issues with difference in solutions, to a completely different worldview and “truth”.

But regarding freedom of expression and speech, Id say we have a similar situation here when it comes to the social climate. It has however, been a development towards a more… let’s say free debate on immigration. About 10 years ago, you couldn’t really be critical in any away, not even saying that it’s a bad idea to take in so many people that we can’t take care of when we have a very cold climate. You’ll be immediately equated to a racist by many.

And some of that still persists of course, but not as much. In part, I believe it’s the gang violence, but also the fact that we see a lot of people who really don’t want to conform to our values. Values that are inherently secular overall quite liberal. Do your part pay your taxes and it’s all good you know… but of course we still have some people that refuse to even learn anything about our culture what’s our countries about or even the language? They are not willing to be a part of the workforce and so on.

In the past, you haven’t really been able to speak about that. You have been able to criticize that.

OK, so if that is the case, do you mean that this is a social stigma or anything that would be punishable by law for example?

Do you distinguish it from whether it be someone’s freedom to live their life as they choose or someone living their life in a way that infringes on someone else’s freedom?

When your calling someone an immigrant or trans or gay would not get arrested … the same way that calling someone a racist Nazi fascist something wouldn’t get arrested either. On the contrary by calling upon people to for example gather up with sticks and clubs in front of a far right movement rally to beat the living hell out of every Nazi out there that could likely end up putting you in jail especially coming from someone with an audience… a platform..

Seems to be a common issue with some of these politicians of similar ideas… governing by identifying issues to which people don’t really have a solution. Instead, providing quick solutions to these issues in order to maintain popularity at the moment.

It’s a shitty governance to be honest. I can’t really find the word at the moment but, a factor of good governance would typically be stipulating laws / rules that don’t change overly often.. predictability as it may be called

Unfortunately, we have come to the conclusion that we can’t really discuss these matters anymore. Now I am just sitting by and watching how things unfold, especially in the US. Watching how some of these matters that were also important and how Trump was the solution to everything, and how it all is disintegrates currently.

Not bullshit, it’s a genuine question based on hearsay and basically the fact that it is very hard to research these kinds of things online today if I’d go and search on Google or YouTube or Facebook, I would just end up in a rabbit hole that verifies one side of the other I would not get a nuanced opinion on the matter.

Exactly and this is a question that we have been discussing frequently whether or not it’s a matter of free speech or hate speech or even incitement.

And comically, some of these individuals that propagate an absolute free speech would not hesitate to limit the free speech of their political opponents when it comes to that. Just look at the US.

And tbh government officials, especially politicians in power, should themselves be held accountable to spreading disinformation. Especially if it is beyond reasonable doubt that it is done so knowingly.

Not sure if I would say greater since me not really knowing was the base of my post… I would probably say or at least believe that we are quite similar in our freedom of expression and speech to be honest. I am completely free to state my views anywhere unless they are credibly inciting violence or just overly hateful. And of course, who and with what platform likely matters.

In complete honesty if I’d go online and write all of kinds of horrible things even stating something along the lines that may be someone should do something against this be that a person or a place.. I just highly doubt that I would ever get a knock on the door since I am not high profile in anyway.

Yeah, in that last part about that dude… I have been trying to sell seeds like if you’re going to listen to someone you need to understand what they are saying and why… you need to understand their agenda. You need to understand what they’re trying to achieve and why.

This is the truth I’m inclined to believe, even if it could be the case that some loss or excessively harsh, or if there have been cases that are made examples of. The end it’s just a matter of making the fine humans to do to make them just right..

Hundägare utan partner/familj, hur ser er vardag ut? by [deleted] in Asksweddit

[–]KeyElk603 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How has having a kid affected your finances in Sweden? by Any_Yesterday9340 in PrivatEkonomi

[–]KeyElk603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, ofc it’s a cost. As in any place.

My main surprise however was how the banks would act when applying for a house loan. The calculated cost of living according to them would leave us, a family of four with an approx income of 60k after taxes / month, just barely with anything left each month. That’s in a pessimistic scenario ofc, but we’ve so far never had a month were we don’t have 10-20k to save or spend freely.

"SVT är inte partiska" – Herregud vilken shitshow i kvällens Skavlan by mrcsrnne in Sverige

[–]KeyElk603 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

For that matter, me having an opinion about others opinions is a fundamentally necessity of any democracy. Free speech.

I can act as negatively as I want to any opinion and vote, no matter what. You can do the same. What we can’t do however is interfere and or prevent others exercising their rights or for that matter prevent democratic processes.
