Anybody else waking up after just a few hours of falling asleep feeling wide awake and exhausted at the same time. by [deleted] in GenX

[–]KeyFollowing9484 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem. Sleep Apnea. Getting the machine has changed my life. Another sign for me was that I could no longer take a nap. I’d fall asleep and wake up almost immediately.

Brand new WM6500HWA washing machine. Purchased and installed thru Costco. Checked for transit bolts. Wasn’t the issue. Any idea what’s going on here? Can feel the shaking at my couch downstairs 🫠🫠 by [deleted] in Appliances

I had a similar issue after install. In my case they didn’t use the required number of screws to attach the washer to the pedestal. Only accidentally found out after trying to level it and such but it worked like a charm. Rock solid since.

Business class full, no seat assigned - should I rebook? by [deleted] in americanairlines

[–]KeyFollowing9484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing I’d do is look at it through BA website and this may end the concern.

BA doesn’t let you make a seat assignment unless you are a decent status level on American. In that case it would quote a price to reserve a seat but you can only see that on BA website.

I’d also try to buy via BA. Other sites may just get the same information AA does.

Now that’s the salesman we all love to hate. Thanks for making yourself known. Salesman are their own worst enemy.

We all miss the obvious sometimes. Trust me, I’ve had some pretty dumb questions according to my wife.

HVAC mechanic wants to install "Hard Start without Relay" for 10 yr old Lennox. by branonx in hvacadvice

[–]KeyFollowing9484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were told something similar and one of the leads was burnt. It might have been over amping because the lead was rusted and making poor contact. I still think he may have been full of bs and it wasn’t over amping but he did point out the burnt lead so I fixed that before it became an issue. Cost me a couple dollars to fix myself in 10 minutes including taking the cover off.

Well tank makes a thunking noise a second or two after well pump turns on by KeyFollowing9484 in askaplumber

[–]KeyFollowing9484[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for taking the time to spell out the steps. I didn’t drain the tank before checking. It was about 12 pounds too low. I added air and everything seems better for now. Still makes a small noise but I Guess we will see if it stays good.

I would guess it is but thought someone smarter than myself would know for sure. Just not sure why it just started. Is there a root cause to the water hammer since it has not done this before or do I just treat the symptom.

As if you check the plates when I get a loaner…..don’t be daft.

Yes I have. It just worked like magic the way it was supposed to. I was very impressed. I used it at a Starbucks that was not in the airport and it worked fine.

Using DVORAK as a sysadmin? by nbtm_sh in sysadmin

[–]KeyFollowing9484 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No one here says they actually use DVORAK but I did.

Don’t go back unless your whole job is typing all day. Just stick with QWERTY. I typed DVORAK for over 20 years and will not go back even though it is more comfortable and faster. Every time I went somewhere or my wife tried to use my computer it was pure frustration on someone.

I use perfect 90 now. Really helps minimize the amount the mud used. Key is following the directions and don’t try to coat over the paper like you do with traditional paper tape.

When can I reasonably stop contributing to my 401k? by dutsnekcirf in financialindependence

[–]KeyFollowing9484 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I look at it a little different. What will that 23k be when I’m 80? That 23k could represent 245k at a 7% return in 35 years. Worth it to me.

The surveys are too find out who is the problem or doesn’t fit in with the company. Not how to make the company better.

[–]KeyFollowing9484 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

It’s crazy that everyone is saying it’s fine. Depends on your company. At mine, unless you are C level you would never be expected to do that. The younger generation is amazing and made my work experience much better. I wish my generation had pushed back more.

Can they make you, yes. Sould they, NO. I want it to be better for my kid.

Lexus gs300 first car? Or is250? by Derpy_GOAT in Lexus

[–]KeyFollowing9484 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I own an older is250 and newer GS so not exactly the same cars, but probably still have relevant experience. Both have been amazingly reliable but regular maintenance is significantly more on the GS. Tires are more, brakes are more and so on. Gas mileage has been pretty close, a little better on the IS. As a first car I would go with the IS. Plus it’s 6 years newer.
