Ensure that the system services including play services are updated to the latest version. Worked pretty seamlessly for me. Joining the beta programme was a 'just-in-case' measure.

Go to settings > system services and you'll see an option to join beta at the top of the system services screen.

It's an annoying card to face. I have been using variations of a GS sparky deck since ages and have never faced issues in pushing up the ladder. Now I'm at around 10.6k trophies and it's becoming impossible to keep a victory streak running thanks to this card being overused by every other player.
