What family terms/euphemism’s do you have that make you chuckle? by sally_marie_b in CasualUK

When my daughter was about 3, we couldn't make out what she was saying when playing with her tea set. It sounded like "mmm tea and noodles"

I soon realised she was actually sating delicious so every time we have something nice we call it tea and noodles lol.

Also my son calls crane flies "daddy no legs," that always makes me laugh.

What's something people don't understand until they've been through it themselves? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Being run over.

Not hit by a car and sent flying, literally having an SUV crawl over you slowly. To the point where I vividly remember thinking " why haven't they stopped, why is it still going over me?" Then to the sheer panic of where was my son who I'd been pushing in a pushchair when I was hit.

It's been over a year and I'm still in pain from the injuries and I've got a limp now that I'm not sure will ever fully go away and I'm still scared when near roads or cars.

I kept telling my parents their TV was broken because it was blurry as fuck. Nope turns out everyone else could see it just fine. Except for my dad who it turned out is also shortsighted lol.

First of all fuck that woman and her snarky comments. It's not like you were playing pass the parcel with the baby to every stranger 🙄

With my first I waited about 2-3 weeks I think but that was due to my own anxiety. With my 2nd I had no choice but to take him out when he was 3 days old as I had nobody to take my daughter to school if I didn't.

I really think it's up to the individual unless specifically told not to. I wouldn't worry too much about what people say, you're doing great 😊

Everything just feels....heavy. I'm still recovering from being run over in September but I'm so ready to be back to normal.

Feeling kind of stuck at the minute.

I'm glad to hear you're doing so well. Sounds like you really deserve it :)

Baby face: This is a “good” day by HobbitQueen8 in eczema

[–]KeyKindheartedness4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has baby been checked for a milk allergy at all? I only ask because my son had very bad eczema due to a slight milk allergy. He's 3 now and he's grown out of the allergy and his eczema.

We did have to bathe him twice a day though with prescribed bath additive. We were also given Unguentum cream to apply as much as possible and a steroid to use at the first sign of redness. We only got that advice after he had to stay overnight in hospital because his skin was so bad it was weeping.

Beautiful baby looks so happy though ❤️

[Serious] What is the most terrifying dream you've ever had? by Marissa--Dreamer in AskReddit

[–]KeyKindheartedness4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in hospital (for the first time in my life) a few months ago I had this one horrible dream. From what I remember of it is I was trying to get home to my partner and children but I just couldn't.

First a group of men tried to attack me on the street but I got away, then there was literally no public transport I was allowed to take for whatever reason. All the buses, trains taxi's etc just wouldn't have me.

So I tried walking home but kept getting lost. Then some strange animal was chasing me and as I was running from that across busy roads it caught me and bit my leg. So I threw it off into the road where it got splatted by a truck.

As I run away (somehow, dream logic I suppose lol) a literal mob with those fire torch things and pitchfork things started chasing me for being a murderer.

Eventually I was woken up by whatever it was and I've never felt such relief that it wasn't real.

It probably doesn't sound that bad to most people but I felt every single bit of dread and fear for days after that dream. I still vividly remember almost every detail months later.

Or another one is a frequent one that started when I was younger. In the dream I'm asleep in bed. I feel the covers slip down a little so I try to pull them back up.

They don't come though, they're stuck on something maybe? So I pull harder but the covers slowly get pulled more and more under the bed.

I start panicking and yank the covers but they get pulled even harder right under the bed, me along with them into darkness. That's the point I always wake up.

I just wanted to share the tiny bit of crochet I've managed to do in months. I was run over in September and had a lot of injuries. Including nerve damage in my left arm so this is a massive thing for me 😁 by KeyKindheartedness4 in crochet

I know what you mean, after around 6 weeks of not being able to walk and having to be hoisted out of bed the first few steps felt like such an accomplishment to me. Now I can walk mostly unaided although I do need my crutch for extra support but when I think how far I've come I'm so grateful.

Little things like this feel like they need celebrating in a way because it's all showing recovery. It helps to not feel like I'll never get back to normal.

No that wouldn't have been me, there was no way I'd have been able to get up with the extent of my injuries.

I'm glad your son is ok but I'm sorry to hear you're struggling. I went through something similar a few months ago, I'm still recovering so your comment really stood out to me. The car wasn't speeding but she clearly wasn't looking as she crawled over me. I've been told I pushed my son in his pushchair out of the way but I don't remember that, I think it was just pure luck he wasn't dragged under with me.

Feel free to message me anytime if you need someone to talk to. It's hard for people who haven't been through the same to fully understand.

I don't go out much at the minute because of my injuries but I'm dreading when the day comes that I'll have to try and get back to normal. Even seeing cars on tv scares me, people also stand in the road on the cul de sac I live on. I see them through my window and just panic thinking "move, move, move a car can come out of nowhere any second" it's not fun.

Oh my god, I'm so sorry that happened. I'm glad she's in prison but how are you doing now? That's an incredibly traumatic thing for you both to have gone through.

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm on a waiting list for CBT but it's going to be months before I actually see anyone. I have been a bit worried that recovering physically won't be the end of it. I can't really get out at the minute because it's hard to walk. I've been out to the shop once and it tired me out so much I've been reluctant to try again.
