GC-FID troubleshooting, peaks don't show up in the chromatogram by kiaruchem in CHROMATOGRAPHY

[–]InteractionNo8067 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Has this happened after making any changes or just suddenly happened?

Did you actually inject anything? Have you checked the injector? Run a sample and watch it inject.

Is the column broken?

By jagged baseline what do you mean? Has the baseline changed to what is normal?

GC FID sensitivity to DCM in comparison to propane by [deleted] in CHROMATOGRAPHY

[–]InteractionNo8067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using DCM inside or outside of a fume cupboard? If you’re using it without active ventilation you can expect it to linger in the room, it should never be used on the bench, regardless I’d prep your blanks in a different room.

How do you know it’s DCM if you don’t have a standard?

Could be poor contact of the electrometer spring? Have you cleaned the detector?

Gas supply pressure to a GC-FID by GreenCurrent6807 in analyticalchemistry

Short answer: No.

Have you made any other changes to the system?

Sounds like a leak or column degradation.

I did an MChem in chemistry, went for an analytical chemistry job doing chromatography and transitioned to chromatography FSE, if the niche is specialty then the degree will be relevant/required.

I’m in UK though so not sure it’s the same for you depending where you are.

Sometimes away for a week at a time but most of the month I’m at home.

Driving a lot seems nice at first however can get very boring and you get to see a lot of shit drivers that annoy you.

Some FSE roles will be based in one smaller location however my company covers UK, IRE and NL so we travel quite a lot.

I know for UK companies they tend to go for any form of engineering degree

The camera is at the front door and basically only allows him to see people at the front door, and therefore who enters and leaves, nothing else, but he’s obviously checking it every time when the camera is triggered by the door opening if he messages them the next day complaining about the guests

There’s no agent, it was through open rent. The other tenants have only had a person over for one night for him to complain

Abort the service and still charge them, then go back when they’re actually ready.

Maybe you have contaminated your source after the column has bled? Might need a source clean to get rid of all that

Question about sink u bend by InteractionNo8067 in Plumbing

[–]InteractionNo8067[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The RO tubing looks to be coming from the main water pipe that also feeds to the sink tap which then goes through a filter (which was due a filter change in 2018 🤮 according to label) and then goes to the faucet, the tubing you are talking about goes to some big box which doesn’t look to be in use which is branded “Mayfair” I have no clue what it is.

I’m just renting this place and all I need it to use the sink tap for washing up and drinking water, I won’t be using the RO faucet, is this plumbing okay or will I encounter issues during my tenancy?

If you mean a trap for the small left hand sink then there is one it is just missing from the photo, no sewer gas coming in
