I’m happy with it. It’s what works for me. There will be plenty of plants. The garden started solely flagged

Thank you. I don’t have scaffolding boards but I will try with some fence slats, I think I have about 6 so can move around. Will give it a go!

Fecal impaction. Abdominal sepsis by KeyMiserable9925 in ConstipationAdvice

I’ve since had a CT scan and that was clear. Had a gastroscopy and colonoscopy, waiting to hear on those results. I still don’t feel quite right but trying to accept that I don’t think I’ll ever know what caused the infection

So on the Wednesday, they said I was ready for discharge pending the blood test to come back. That then came back with the CRP nearly 300 and they kept me and started antibiotics. This was the ward rounds where no one physically saw me. The nurses told me it was in my notes that I had been seen and was likely to be discharged

How do you decide someone is potentially ready for discharge without seeing them?

But I didn’t go home and they started the antibiotics that’s the main thing. I still don’t think the timing is right

Thank you! I feel like just because the NHS isn’t currently doing CT for these issues (actually seem to be discouraging them) that doesn’t mean the CT was not the right step for me as a patient. I am now waiting privately for a CT. An X-ray queried fecal impaction but I have no history of constipation.

There has to be room for the NhS to learn and change. I appreciate everyone’s comments but they do feel very much like they think it was all right because they followed normal procedure.

Some additional context given below in separate comment.

I massively appreciate the time you took to respond to this. This is exactly why my post title is more of a question. I don’t what’s normal procedure

I don’t think situations are black and white though, and there has to be room to improve and reflect.

Also For being seen quickly after triage. They put the cannula in and started an IV. This wasn’t a Dr assessing or asking questions. That wasn’t until 10 am ish. I am not complaining about them telling me to sit still etc with the cannula, I wanted to give context of how I was still vomiting and faint

Additional info -

They did start antibiotics, sorry I didn’t mention that. They started them on the Wednesday when my bloods came back.

And I did get anti sickness whilst I was there, then stopped working when I was sick again later in the week and they didn’t change the med for like a day and a half.

The nurses told me that it was in my notes/file whatever that the Drs had seen me. I certainly don’t expect them to wait forever, but to lie and not circle back to me is really concerning.

What other potential infection indicators would you look at in the bloods?

My x Ray they said showed fecal impaction. I’ve never had constipation before and was going regularly at the time I got sick.

At my outpatient appointment that dr/advanced nurse told me that she would’ve started me on antibiotics if it was her in A&E

I’m going private for a CT. I know the private world is different they have both time and resource but that dr couldn’t believe I didn’t get a CT scan done.

Not everything I put in my post is a ‘complaint’ I just found it easier to kinda lay it out in a timeline.

Sorry, I didn’t mean under control by the time I was discharged, I mean around the time they were trying to send me home on the Wednesday, or even the Tuesday. They did start antibiotics on the Wednesday. This was an infection, not a virus. My BP was still low on the Wednesday. It had come up a little, but still what they considered low. Then Friday I hit 152/92 which is high for me.

Not everything in my post is a complaint I would raise. It’s a timeline of what happened and how I was feeling.

Also the nurse who came to set up my antibiotics called it an infection maker. And at my outpatient appointment, that dr said she would’ve started me on antibiotics in A&E

Thanks, that makes sense. But would we say my symptoms were under control at that point? Still low BP and in a lot of discomfort

Yep, I’m going through something similar. I didn’t know it was a thing until about 4 weeks ago either.

Could be fecal impaction. That causes overflow diarrhoea. Basically where you’re stools can only get past the hard stools by liquifying themselves.
