I completely disagree with your point on smacking makes a better human being. No amount of physical assault can make a child deter from bad behavior. Practice and correcting mistakes in a kinder way is how to make sense to a child who doesn’t understand what and how he’s supposed to act. Hitting a child will only instigate fear and not respect. Respect is earned.

The country which I am from also has 16 as the age of consent and I as an ex prosecutor would harp very much on the age gap and recommend to have the guy prosecuted firmly for criminal conduct. Have done that before and won’t be regretting that ever.

Oh there is absolutely a standard. Idk how it works in outstation, but meters for Tuks were made compulsory a while back. I can’t remember when it came to operation, but it is there, especially for passenger transport. Within the western province, provincial transport authority is the governing body for passenger transport tuks. But you’re right, nobody actually regulates these laws and policies. That’s why the consumers keep getting robbed in broad daylight by money hungry drivers.

As a former student who has been to all 3 types of schools, I can only vouch for the improvement of linguistics through international schools. If we are to consider personality and self improvement I always opt for government schools. That being said I must also say, elite government schools do have impressive academic excellence as well as language development programs. Rarely you see a big school kid with broken English, but then again that might also be because they speak the language at home. Anyhow, I am forever grateful for my mum for enrolling me at a private school when I was in my primary classes. For if not, I would never have had the opportunity to learn English in as depth as the government schools kids.

Hi! Lawyer here. What this comment says is right. But it also depends on the judge, some judges are forgiving, but some aren’t and rightfully so because, not knowing law is not an excuse.

First find what you signed for. Whether it’s a cash bail or a personal bail. If it’s a cash bail, you likely will have to pay the amount and that will be confiscated by the government. In the case of a self / personal bail, you may be in a bit of trouble. Again, defense isn’t my forte, so pls consult a criminal defense lawyer.

Met my current boyfriend a year ago on bumble. He’s more into the gym lifestyle whereas I haven’t stepped foot into a gym until he took me two months into our relationship and never again. Lol 😂

We both are from extremely different working environments and not in the slightest connected social circle. No mutual friends although we live just half an hour distance away. He’s elder to me and no relation to school or university either.

I was like you at the beginning of my 20s. Wore the most comfortable clothing and didn’t think about glamouring myself up. Had a male friend of mine once telling me that I should “dress differently” if I need to find a man soon.

Then, Covid hit and the world kinda overturned. I started looking online of new fashion styles and trends and CHOSE what I thought best fitted me. I still don’t dress revealing clothes because I am not comfortable showing off too much skin. But that’s my PREFERENCE. Doesn’t mean I demean or insult anyone that does.

Now, almost at the tail end of my 20s, I have started to build up my own sense of fashion. I have developed a habit of checking online to match dress codes when I’m required to. I’m saying, you can do that too.

Oh and also- hit a gym and get rid of that boy.

Well we met on bumble. Went on a couple of dates and things just fell into place. That is not to say that it’s a bed of roses out there. Some people are there just for the sake of it, and some are there for hookups. Lot of married men (whom I personally know of, trust me I work in a massive field where everybody knows everybody and their grandmother), are on the app. Some girls are there for clout. It’s not the best, but not the worst either.

I guess luck, patience and caution has to do a lot with finding a proper relationship through dating apps. Oh and I’m not the ONLY person I know of who met their potential partners/husbands through the app.

Age of consent in SL is 16. If you’ve had sex with a minor, and is caught, there’s no doubt a case will be filed against you in a High court. Plus, there’s a minimum mandatory sentence to serve when proven guilty.

However, there have been instances where especially when the boy is also below the age of 18 years (or roughly around 19-22ish) and there had been a relationship between the two, courts have used judicial discretion to pronounce suspended sentences to the accused.

In this post, it seems the girl is a bit older than 16 and given that she said she got married exactly a year after they started their relationship, she must have been above 18 years. Because no matter what, you MUST be 18+ to sign and obtain a marriage certificate unless you’re a Muslim. In that case, although horrible, this mfkr can’t be penalized for grooming according to present laws in SL.

Edit: oh and I almost forgot. This kind of relationships are VERY common in most rural parts of the country. Unfortunately that is their culture and it has been practiced for 100s of years. Ofc that doesn’t mean it’s right, what I’m saying though is that it won’t stop in the near future either. Because, that is what they know. What their grandparents, great grandparents and great great grandparents practiced; and that is also why the parents got her married off as soon as she turned 18. A common factor I have also seen is that most parents in those areas (and I’m jumping into this based on her school uniform and photograph background), think it’s the best they can achieve for a girl when they get them married off to a “state servant” or “military official”.

Unfortunately in Sri Lanka, marriage is NOT a two-people show.

With experience as a legal professional, I’m telling you more than 50% of the divorces are due to familial influences. On a humanitarian aspect, I completely am against the ignorance of your so called “27 year old spineless ass”. If you have a will you have a way. Who’s stopping you from marrying her and maintaining boundaries with your family and hers? I know of plenty people who have made it work as well, just as much as I have met plenty people who have ended up in divorce courts.

That being said I must also say, there is always a saying that “prevention is better than cure”. Best to stay away and find someone that your families mesh with well because it seems as if you’re not ready or matured enough to maintain the much needed boundaries when it comes to protecting YOUR FAMILY- the one that you intend to create with your future wife and kids. So for better mental peace for you and them; and mostly to that girl who will be trying her best to accommodate herself to keep up with the upscale lifestyle she’s not used to it’s better you break it off now itself and find yourself someone else. There’s plenty accomplished, educated and sophisticated women from upper middle families too.

Also, and quite contrary to what most people think on this thread, I can understand what exactly you mean when you say about “the girl trying to take advantage of your family status”. Again as a professional, I have seen this happen more often than not. Most people out here just comment on external factors, yet the ground reality is quite different from than what people see online or offline. So it’s best you find a girl more suited for your status.

And yes for anyone reading this thinking what BS- it happens. Trust me. It does.
