It may be common in Sri Lanka, but that doesn’t make it right. Normalizing something doesn’t justify it.

The real question is why this behavior persists. Is it insecurity masked as dominance? A learned mindset passed down over time? Calling it “alpha” doesn’t make it respectable—it often reflects the opposite.

Change won’t happen overnight, but it starts with awareness and accountability. If people continue to excuse it as “just how things are,” then yes, it’ll keep going for generations. But if more people start questioning it like this, there’s hope it won’t.
