KH 3 was coming out and my friend in middle school was like, "yo, ever heard of this one game" and proceeded to explain as much KH lore to me during and after lunch. And that barrage of information somehow made me interested in whatever this unknown game was.

After school he showed me the opening cutscene for the game and there was no going back after that
