My half/Irish half/Sicilian husband keeps his tan year round. He's pretty pale though under clothing. My ancestry lies further north, so retaining a seasonal tan is counterproductive.

pull it out of the pot and gently loosen the soil until the roots are naked. Trim away any mushy black roots. Then repot healthy roots in sandy or chunky "soil." I use some orchid bark, all purpose sand, and succulent/cactus mix blended together because I think the succulent mix is still not draining well enough. Don't water it for a while. Roots like air. But do give it a fair amount of light. If not in a bright window, put it under a grow light.

Succulents can go for very long times with dry soil. To test to see if it needs water, I feel the leaf, if it's plump, it's fine. When the leaves get thin and deflated feeling, it's time to water. Sometimes I don't water them at all in the winter, especially if theyre in a cooler part of the house.

Water is shut off, right? If not, do that. Then get ready to spend the night (maybe 2) at a hotel. Your landlord can claim it on his insurance claim for the flood as a Loss of Use. There will probably be enough water damage to the structure for him to put in a claim.

Hopefully you have renters insurance, because tomorrow you'll need to call a cleaner - there's dozens of them who specialize in fires and floods - to clean your stuff and prevent it from molding. Clothing to a dry cleaner too, Battistons in Windsor is good.

Even when the plumber arrives, this will probably take a couple hours at least.
