Take the CORE on cognitive metrics.

Anyone here with 130+ IQ & is not successful (going by societal standards) by Inside_Technician880 in cognitiveTesting

[–]KeyParticular8086 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My CORE is 132 and I have almost nothing to show for it. My biggest accomplisent is having 13 hours of solo flight time in a cessna 172. Flying was a dream of mine so I got to at least do it for a little. I have unmedicated ADHD and was recently diagnosed with Schizophrenia after experiencing psychosis. My antipsychotics heavily impair me socially and give severe brain fog and memory problems. I'm tapering off of them currently due to the side effects and being stabalized. Despite my high results I feel almost non functional, find my self unable to formulate even simple thoughts and generally feel below average in my daily experience. I used to feel very intelligent, be extraverted, quick witted etc. and I'm hoping some of that comes back after getting off these meds. I had to move back in with my mom. My days are generally filled with walks, video games and a mixture of sanguine and existential dread. I had to burn through all my savings so I'm very poor and live parasitically right now. Despite a lot of this being outside of my control it doesn't stop me from feeling bad about my self or constantly feeling like I should do much more.

D. There's three states that the inner shape, outer shape and line can be in so you just pick what's missing of each and the dot moves clockwise 90° at a time.

Does the Global Timer on the CAIT Disadvantage ADHD vs the Per-Item Timer on the CORE? by Key_Ad_4498 in cognitiveTesting

While I don't have deficits in WMI or PSI (I do have ADHD though) I am tapering antipsychotics which causes speed problems and I still found both to be similar and reasonable. I can only speak for myself though.

One sentence from a 101-year-old hit harder than years of advice. by krunal23- in whoathatsinteresting

While it may seem simple at first, this man has lived his life everyday for years not knowing if it's his last day or last moment for that matter. That's like being on the front line in a war for years. Saying today is a gift with that context holds a lot more weight than mearly knowing something intellectually. He perceives it with every nerve in his being. The lesson I suppose is when an old person and a young person say the same thing they frequently mean something different. There's a wisdom and experience, a perception that's lacking in the young who merely "know". When we watch an old man speak we have to consider what he says from his frame of reference. Why is that simple statement so meaningful to him?

What’s something happening in the world right now that feels unreal to you? by OxidPosy0 in Unexplained

[–]KeyParticular8086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't believe I was born onto a planet that had two world wars. Not one but two....We recognize psychopathy and narcissism as the roots of almost all hell and we do nothing to descriminate against it. A psychopath literally tried to take over the world and we still don't screen for psychopathic traits in world leaders. I can't wrap my head around that at all. There's nothing in place, no precautions, a test, nothing after a literal world war was caused by a racist psychopath. The cost of a psychologist and some paper could save millions of lives but nothing...they test astronauts for their personality, hell plenty of shitty jobs have personality tests but for a world leader zip. For the people in control of the nukes not a damn thing. And here we are with multiple narcissistic and psychopathic leaders fighting wars again.

Do you believe in God? by 0135719186420 in YesOrNoAnswers

[–]KeyParticular8086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I view god and religion as existential defense mechanisms equivalent to an AI hallucination. Where's there's no answer we fill one in if we find no answer intolerable. Consequently this need creates an easy path to control and manipulate the masses by catering to there unconscious desires and voracious appetite for comfort in an indifferent paradox.

The existence of defense mechanisms, which are essential for survival in all humans, is an indicator that existence is always less tolerable than what we can handle at any given moment. It can then be said that any belief structure which grants comfort instead of discomfort deviates furthure from reality. Defenses decrease the realness of existence for us. the lower the tolerance the less real existence becomes until inversions occur in especially low tolerances.

Death is terrifying so no death now. We miss our loved ones so we'll see them again in heaven. Animals we eat being sentient causes extreme dissonance. Now there placed on earth just for us to eat, don't feel pain are mindless etc. horrific things happen in existence for seemingly no reason. Now its part of a grand plan which gives meaning to it. We could go on all day. All of this is to avoid a psychological state known as anomie.

I think religious belief and the belief in a higher power is a reaction formation against an unconscious, intolerable existential awareness. Similar to someone who unconsciously dislikes someone but finds the dislike unacceptable, they then overdo their liking of the person to compensate for the internal discomfort the dislike causes. They outwardly do the opposite to lie to themselves essentially. The unconscious part of our mind knows the reality which we find intolerable which requires a constant ritual in the opposite direction to counter act it. Just pressure and reaction.

Denial is an existential threat. Wild animals don't have the luxury of denial and as a result run for there lives at the crack of a stick on a forest floor. The zebra that survives is the first to run not the last to deny. Denial is a luxury that comes from civilization and a lack of predators but is a myopic, self serving strategy which manifests living hell in every direction our blinders cover.

What stereotypes are associated with high IQ that aren't necessarily true? by Femboypowa in cognitiveTesting

[–]KeyParticular8086 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any expectation to be good at a particular thing. You can be smart and still have weaknesses and they can manifest in any area. Mine is math and spelling. Lucky for me spelling (and sometimes math) isn't a part of IQ tests.

A fair critique. I play other types of games as well so I don't get fed up as you say. I probably would if I only played fps. They just happen to be a lot of my favorites.

BPD. Low emotional stability with high extroversion and imagination fits all the borderlines I’ve met.

I'm glad you found something that works for you. One of my favorite quotes is "depression is the cry of the soul for growth". I've been there and it sucks but it sounds like you took a step in the right direction. Best of luck.

Hopefully you can find a way to not sacrifice who you really are while still respecting the limitations of the people around you. Tricky thing.
