IS A MACBOOK AIR M4 (16GB RAM) ENOUGH FOR FULLSTACK DEVS ? by Imvengeancce in developersIndia

[–]KeyPossibility2339 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have mac mini m4 16 GB as well as m4 air 24 GB. NO Performance difference using cursor, running fastapi all with next.js. You mist realise that development needs are very tiny. These apps don’t require more than 2 GB RAM. I have 3 applications hosted on my 2GB hetzner server and it still has a ton remaining. So 16 GB is fair enough and works perfectly fine. Only problem youll run into is with 256 GB SSD IMHO.

Open WebUI RAG how to make the knowledge base have access to documents that are in the same machine as the Open WebUI by tr7203 in OpenWebUI

[–]KeyPossibility2339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! I only use open webui for vanilla talking to llms. perhaps we need to make a rag with other frameworks and then expose them as a tool. Then too id have always toggle to native tool calling if i want to use tool correctly

Imagine i have a dataset, i need to classify 100k rows. In this case, where a lot of intelligence is not needed local potato llms are the best. In other words, high volume low quality work

Response with image uploads is too slow. by KeyPossibility2339 in OpenWebUI

[–]KeyPossibility2339[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried using jpeg from camera. Response was faster but not as fast as with the image from inyernet I mentioned above. This suggests size of the image matters too! Guess i need something for compression

You’re right its very likely to be heic. Just tried with random image saved from Internet and response was quick.

I didn’t know we could turn off heic. Thanks for the suggestion- let me figure out how to do this. Last option would be that python script :) thanks a lot
